Franco Berni (born 9 January 1965) is a former Italian rugby union player from Alessandria, Italy. He played as lock.
A lock with a powerful body build (approximately 150 kg (330 lb) and 2 m (6.6 ft) high), Berni started his rugby career in DLF Alessandria; then he moved to Alessandria in 1981–1982. He was part of the squad that was promoted from Serie C to Serie B. [1]
In 1982 he moved to ASR Milano and became almost then an under-17 international; [2] he was also awarded by Gazzetta dello Sport as Serie A's best under-21. [3]
In 1985, he debuted for Italy at Brașov, against Romania, and two years later, he was in the 1987 Rugby World Cup roster, where Berni took part only a match, against the All Blacks, which is also the first match in the history of the World Cup. Moving to Amatori Milano, with such team, later known as Milan, won four scudetti and a Coppa Italia in the 1990s; later, at the CUS Genova, [4] he was between the protagonists of the promotion from Serie B to Serie A2.
He was also invited several times to Zebre, with which played several international matches.
He ended his playing career in Piacenza in 2000, where he started his coach career. Again in Alessandria until 2008, after the 2008–2009 season he coached Settimo Torinese and then moved on to coach the Genoan team Zena Wasps Rugby.
He had also a politician career: in 1997 he was candidate for communal councillor in Alessandria for Forza Italia. [5]

Franchino Baresi is an Italian football youth team coach and a former player and manager. He mainly played as a sweeper or as a central defender, and spent his entire 20-year career with Serie A club AC Milan, captaining the club for 15 seasons. He is considered to be one of the best defenders of all-time. He was ranked 19th in World Soccer magazine's list of the 100 greatest players of the 20th century. With Milan, he won three UEFA Champions League titles, six Serie A titles, four Supercoppa Italiana titles, two European Super Cups and two International Cups, as well as a World Cup with Italy.
Giovanni "Gianni" Rivera is an Italian politician and former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder.
Giuseppe Baresi is an Italian football manager and former player, who played as a defender or as a defensive midfielder. He currently works as a technical assistant at Inter Milan. Baresi spent the majority of his 18-year career with Inter, before retiring in 1994 after two seasons with Modena. With Inter, he won two Serie A titles and the UEFA Cup, among other trophies, and also served as the team's captain. At international level, he represented the Italy national team on 18 occasions between 1979 and 1986, taking part at UEFA Euro 1980, where they finished in fourth place, and at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. His younger brother, Franco Baresi, also a defender, served as captain for city rivals A.C. Milan and the Italy national side.
Giovanni Ferrari was an Italian footballer who played as an attacking midfielder/inside forward on the left. He is regarded as one of the best players of his generation, having won Serie A 8 times, as well as two consecutive FIFA World Cup titles with the Italy national football team. Along with Giuseppe Meazza and Eraldo Monzeglio, he is one of only three Italian players to have won two World Cups.
Antonio Cabrini is an Italian professional football manager and a former player. He played left-back, mainly with Juventus. He won the 1982 FIFA World Cup with the Italy national team. Cabrini was nicknamed Bell'Antonio, because of his popularity as a charismatic and good-looking football player. On the field, he made a name for himself as one of Italy's greatest defenders ever, and is remembered in particular for forming one of the most formidable defensive units of all time with Italy and Juventus, alongside goalkeeper Dino Zoff, as well as defenders Claudio Gentile and Gaetano Scirea. Cabrini won the Best Young Player Award at the 1978 World Cup, after helping Italy manage a fourth-place finish, and also represented Italy at Euro 1980, once again finishing in fourth place. He is one of the few players to have won all UEFA Club competitions, an achievement he managed with Juventus. In 2021, he was inducted into the Italian Football Hall of Fame.
Franco Causio is an Italian former professional footballer who won the 1982 FIFA World Cup and came through the ranks of his hometown club Lecce before making his name at Juventus for many years in the 1970s and 1980s. Regarded as one of Italy's greatest ever wingers, throughout his career, he was given the nickname "The Baron", because of his stylish moves on the pitch, as well as his well-educated upbringing, and his fair attitude in life.

Alberico Evani, sometimes misspelled as Alberigo Evani, is an Italian football manager and former player, who was deployed as a midfielder. He started his club career with AC Milan, where he spent the majority of his playing career, winning several trophies during his 13 seasons at the club, including, three Serie A titles and two European Cups; he later also played for Sampdoria, Reggiana, and Carrarese. At international level, he represented Italy at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, where they reached the final. He is the current assistant coach of the Saudi Arabia national football team.
