Franco Osuru Lino (born 26 August 2005) is an Australian professional footballer who plays for Melbourne Victory. Primarily playing as a left back, Lino made his senior A-League Men debut on 4 November 2023, in The Original Rivalry against Adelaide United.

Early life

Lino was born on 26 August 2005 in Melbourne, to parents who had emigrated from South Sudan in 2003. [1] He currently attends St. Francis Xavier College. [2] Lino began his youth career at Pakenham United [3] [4] before leaving the club at the conclusion of the 2017 season [5] to join the Melbourne Victory's youth academy.

Club career

On 1 July 2023, Lino was promoted from Melbourne Victory's youth academy to the Senior squad on a scholarship contract. [6]

Weeks later on 17 July 2023, he made his professional debut in the Australia Cup playoff round against Newcastle Jets in a 2–2 loss on penalties. In the game, he played for 90 minutes and made 74 accurate passes. [7]

In the following November, Lino made his senior A-League Men debut in The Original Rivalry November 4 clash against Adelaide United at AAMI Park, being substituted on as a replacement for Fabian Monge. [8] Lino made his senior starting debut for the Victory on 3 December against Central Coast Mariners that finished in a 2–2 draw.[ citation needed ]
