Frank A. Serafini (born February 15,1945) is a former Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He was sworn in to represent the 114th legislative district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1979.
In 1999,Serafini was convicted of federal perjury charges for lying in his federal grand jury testimony regarding a scheme involving his nephew to funnel $129,000 in illegal campaign contributions to 10 political candidates. [4]
After his conviction,he delayed resigning his seat,as was required by the Pennsylvania Constitution,in order to extend a 103-100 Republican majority in the House. [5] [6] He eventually resigned his seat on February 7,2000. [2]
Melissa Ann Hart is an American lawyer and politician. She was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007,representing western Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. She was the first Republican woman to represent Pennsylvania at the federal level. Prior to her service in Congress,Hart served in the Pennsylvania Senate,where she chaired the finance committee. She was the first Republican woman elected to serve a full term in the Pennsylvania Senate in 1990 when she was 28 years old. In her first run for office,Hart defeated an incumbent in a senate district that included parts of Allegheny,Westmoreland and Armstrong counties. In the 2006 midterm elections,Hart lost her bid for re-election to Democrat Jason Altmire. She challenged Altmire again in the 2008 election,but was defeated again.
Jeffrey Earl Habay is a former Republican member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,who was elected to represent the 30th legislative district in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1994 at the age of 28. A native of O'Hara Township,Pennsylvania,he was considered a rising star in the Republican party,eventually being named by his caucus to the position of Majority Deputy Whip. In 2006 he resigned his position after being found guilty of violations of the state Ethics Code,alleging false antrax attacks and using state staffers for personal use.
