Franz Bucher (born 15 January 1940) [1] is a Swiss artist.
Franz Bucher was born in 1940 in Sarnen, Obwalden, Switzerland. [2] [ failed verification ] He attended schools in Sarnen and St. Michael's College, Zug. Between 1957-62, he worked as a painter and decorator. During this time, he worked in places such as Lucerne, Basel and Zürich. Following this, he studied at the Arts-&-Crafts School and High School for Applied Arts in Basel and Lucerne. In 1965 he received a scholarship from the Canton Obwalden. During his time at these schools, Bucher submitted his first works to exhibitions.[ citation needed ]
Unterwalden, translated from the Latin inter silvas, is the old name of a forest-canton of the Old Swiss Confederacy in central Switzerland, south of Lake Lucerne, consisting of two valleys or Talschaften, now two separate Swiss cantons, Obwalden and Nidwalden.

Lake Sarnen is a lake in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. The lake is on the Sarner Aa, which flows out of the Lake Lungern, through the Lake Sarnen, and into Lake Lucerne. The municipalities of Sarnen and Sachseln are located on the shores of the lake, and the Brünig railway line follows the eastern shore.
The Sarner Aa is a 28 km (17 mi) long river in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. It drains the area to the eastern side of the Brünig Pass, flowing through the Lake Lungern, Lake Sarnen and the Wichelsee, before entering Lake Lucerne near Alpnach. It goes by several names over its length, being known as the Lauibach upstream of the Lungerersee, and the Aa or Aawasser between the Lungerersee and Lake Sarnen.

According to the Swiss historian Jean-François Bergier, Etterlin decided to compose a chronicle on the history of the city of Lucerne towards the end of his life, between 1505 and 1507. Etterlin’s chronicle, which was printed for the first time in 1507 by Michael Furter, is considered to be the earliest surviving printed version of the William Tell story.

At the time of his death, his net worth was estimated at 14 million Swiss Francs. Between 1886 and 1896, Bucher served as a member of the Cantonal Council of Obwalden. He was an energetic entrepreneur who attracted anecdotes reflecting his original and direct approach.
The Hexenturm is a stone tower in the municipality of Sarnen in the canton of Obwalden in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The name refers to its use as a prison for suspected witches in the 17th century. Today it houses the Cantonal Archives of Obwalden.
Sarnen Nord railway station is a railway station in the municipality of Sarnen, in the Swiss canton of Obwalden. It is an intermediate stop on the 1,000 mm gauge Brünig line of the Zentralbahn. The station opened with the timetable change on 11 December 2016, following the completion of a double-tracking project between Sarnen and Kägiswil.
