Fred Anderson (born 9 June 1931) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). [1]

Anderson, a rover from Ivanhoe Amateurs, played three seasons for Fitzroy. [2]

From Fitzroy, he made his way to Hawthorn but would not play a senior league game for his new club. [3]

He was cleared to Greensborough in 1955 and captain-coached them to that season's Diamond Valley Football League premiership. [4]

Despite playing well for the Hawthorn reserves side, he was never selected to play another AFL game.

Walter Rex Byrne was an Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Before landing at Fitzroy, Byrne played at Northcote, Mildura, Williamstown and Northcote again. After captain-coaching Mildura for part of 1930, Byrne was transferred back to Melbourne in his job with Victoria Police and joined his brother, Tom Byrne, at Williamstown for the rest of the 1930 season. He played eight games with 'Town, kicking eight goals before returning to Northcote in 1931.

The 1925 season is the Hawthorn Football Club's first season in the Victorian Football League and 24th overall. The club was allowed entry to join the VFL crossing over from the Victorian Football Association. Alex Hall was the first coach for the VFL team while Jim Jackson was the first captain.
