Verona is a township in Essex County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 14,572, an increase of 1,240 (+9.3%) from the 2010 census count of 13,332, which in turn reflected a decline of 201 (−1.5%) from the 13,533 counted in the 2000 census.

Quincy Douby is an American-born, naturalized Montenegrin former professional basketball player. At 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), 175 pounds (79 kg), Douby played shooting guard for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. The Sacramento Kings made him the 19th selection of the 2006 NBA draft.

Frank Robert Burns was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Johns Hopkins University from 1951 to 1952 and at Rutgers University from 1973 to 1983, compiling a career college football record of 84–52–2. In 1978, Burns led the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to their first bowl game, the now-defunct Garden State Bowl.

Michael Thomas Rice Jr. is an American college basketball coach, formerly the head men's basketball coach at Robert Morris University and later Rutgers University. He is the son of former college basketball coach and Portland Trail Blazers announcer Mike Rice. In 2009, he helped lead Robert Morris to its first NCAA tournament since 1992. Rice gained national attention in 2013, when ESPN aired Rutgers practice videos showing the coach verbally and physically abusing players. Rice was fired the next day. He resides in Little Silver, New Jersey.

Tim Pernetti is the commissioner of the American Athletic Conference, having been named to that position as the successor to Mike Aresco on December 7, 2023 and taken office on June 1, 2024. He had previously been president of IMG Academy, having been named to this post by WME/IMG in February 2015. Pernetti served previously as the Chief Business Officer of the Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion club New York City FC (NYCFC). His appointment was announced by the club on September 9, 2013. Pernetti oversaw all business operations for the club, leading up to its first games in March 2015. After only eighteen months with the club, and before the first game was played, Pernetti resigned to take a job as President of Multimedia for IMG's college sports business.
Kevin Bannon is a former American men's college basketball head coach who most recently served as head coach at Rutgers University from 1997 through 2001. Prior to that he spent eight years as head coach of Rider University's team and seven more as the coach of Trenton State College.

Fred Hill Sr. was an American football and baseball coach. He served as the head baseball coach at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he served from 1984 through 2013. His teams earned 13 NCAA Division I baseball tournament bids at the school. Hill was also a head baseball and football coach for the Montclair State University Red Hawks in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. He compiled an overall college baseball coaching record of 1,089–749–9.
Bainton Field is a baseball stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. It is the home field of the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights college baseball team. The stadium holds 1,500 spectators.
The 2015 Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team represents Rutgers University in the 2015 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The team was led by Kyle Flood, in his fourth year as head coach, and play its home games at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Joe Litterio is an American college baseball coach, was the head coach of the Rutgers Scarlet Knights baseball team. He has held that position since the 2014 season until the end of the 2019 season. After his playing career with the Scarlet Knights, Litterio served as a volunteer assistant with his alma mater while also coaching at Immaculate Conception High School. He then became an assistant at Monmouth for four seasons before one season as an assistant with Winthrop. He then earned his first head coaching job at Wagner, where he remained for twelve seasons. In 2012, he returned to Rutgers as associate head coach under Fred Hill before assuming the top role two years later. On May 28, 2019, Litterio was let go by not having his contract renewed.
The Princeton–Rutgers rivalry is a college rivalry in athletics between the Tigers of Princeton University and Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University – New Brunswick, both of which are located in New Jersey. The rivalry dates back to the first college football game in history in 1869. Although the football series ended in 1980 due to the two schools going in different directions with their football programs, the rivalry has continued in other sports, primarily in men's basketball.
Darren Fenster is an American former professional baseball player and manager who works in the Minor League Baseball system of the Boston Red Sox. As a player, he was listed at 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m) and 175 pounds (79 kg) while batting and throwing right-handed.
