Freedom Frog is a frog mascot character of Intervention Helpline, an Alaska counseling nonprofit organization. The organization uses Freedom Frog for scholar and other organization animations. The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) is a public university in Anchorage, Alaska, United States. The Anchorage Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is a professional symphony orchestra located in Anchorage, Alaska, US. Randall Craig Fleischer was the music director until his death in 2020. After Fleischer's death during the Covid-19 pandemic, Elizabeth Schulze served as artistic advisor and chief conductor while the ASO searched for a new music director. In 2022, Schulze was named as the music director and conductor of the orchestra, and embarked on her first official season in that position. Linn Weeda is the assistant director and conductor.

Evangeline Atwood (1906–1987) was an American historian, activist, and philanthropist. She was the co-founder of numerous organizations in Alaska, including the Alaska Statehood Association, the Anchorage League of Voters, the Alaska World Affairs Council, Parent-Teacher Council of Anchorage, and the Cook Inlet Historical Society. She was awarded Historian of the Year by the Alaska Historical Society in 1975. In 2009, she was named to the Alaska Women's Hall of Fame. Her husband was Robert Atwood and was the co-owner, alongside him, of the Anchorage Times.

Proposition 1 was a 2018 direct initiative bathroom bill in Anchorage, Alaska. A public vote on the proposition was held on April 3, 2018. It would have made it legal for "any employer, public accommodation, or other person to establish and enforce sex-specific standards or policies concerning access to intimate facilities such as locker rooms, showers, changing rooms, and restrooms." The measure defined the term 'sex' as "an individual's immutable biological condition of being male or female, as objectively determined by anatomy and genetics at the time of birth."

The 2021 Anchorage mayoral election was held on April 6, 2021, to elect the mayor of Anchorage, Alaska. As no candidate received at least 45% of the vote in the first round, the two candidates with the highest vote share, Forrest Dunbar and Dave Bronson, advanced to a runoff on May 11. The election was officially nonpartisan. Incumbent independent acting mayor Austin Quinn-Davidson, first appointed to the position in October 2020, was eligible to run for reelection to a full term, but did not run. The deadline to register to vote in the first round was March 7. Mail-in ballots were sent out starting on March 15. On May 21, 2021, after a narrow loss, Dunbar conceded the race to Bronson. Bronson was sworn in on July 1.

Mary Peltola was elected in a 3-way race against former governor Sarah Palin and Nick Begich III in the election, becoming the first Alaska Native and woman to represent Alaska in the House.
