Freedx was founded in 2023. [3] The name "Freedx" is inspired by the economist and philosopher Friedrich Hayek, a proponent of free markets and decentralized economic systems, reflecting the company's ethos of a decentralized economy. The "x" is an abbreviation of "exchange." [3] In August 2024, the company was incorporated with a DASP license in El Salvador. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

In October, Freedx received a BTC License from El Salvador's Central Bank (BCR), authorizing the provision of services specifically related to Bitcoin, such as custody, exchange, digital wallet, and payment processing. [9]

On January 29, 2025, Freedx secured $50 million in funding to enhance its platform and expand globally. [10] [11] [12]

In March 2025, the company received a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) license from the National Commission of Digital Assets of El Salvador (CNAD), authorizing the provision of services with digital assets other than Bitcoin. [8]

On April 8, 2025, Freedx was granted a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) license by the Comisión Nacional de Activos Digitales (CNAD) in El Salvador. [4] [13]

From April 8 to 10, Freedx attended Paris Blockchain Week 2025 at the Carrousel du Louvre. The company sponsored an exclusive VIP dinner at the Pyramide du Louvre and participated in panel discussions on the main stage. Freedx facilitates the buying, selling, and trading of cryptocurrencies. Its core services include spot trading with major cryptocurrencies and fiat currencies, leveraged futures contracts, and margin trading. The platform also offers order matching, custody of digital assets, fiat on/off ramps, card issuing, and institutional trading services. Freedx emphasizes enterprise-level usability with professional trading tools, advanced charting, and API connectivity, maintaining robust KYC/AML compliance procedures and institutional-grade security measures for asset custody.
