Renato Alves Menezes Barreto (born September 1, 1993), better known by his stage name Froid, is a Brazilian rapper born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1993. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]
Froid is notably certified Gold for the single "SK8 do Matheus", and 2× Platinum for the single "Lamentável III" with Cynthia Luz. [10]
Froid founded the hip hop group Um Barril de Rap with two partners in 2011. Initially the group's members were Froid himself, Sampa and Yank. After a while, producer Disstinto also joined the group. In 2017, the group disbanded after Yank left, so Froid continued his solo career. [ citation needed ]
While he was a member of the group Um Barril de Rap, Froid also participated in freestyle rap battles, attending Batalha do Neuronio and Batalha do Museu, based at the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília, thus growing in the national rap scene and gaining his notoriety. [ citation needed ]
In 2017, he aroused controversy by saying that the Earth was flat and NASA lied. [11]
In early December 2017, he released a single, titled "Lamentável pt. III", with Cynthia Luz. [12]
He also featured on Cynthia Luz's song "Deixa Ela" from her debut album Do Caos ao Nirvana released on 15 December 2017. [13] [14]
On 22 December 2017, he released his first original solo album, titled O Pior Disco do Ano (lit. "The Worst Album of the Year"). In an interview with Redbull.com, he explained the title as an attempt to provoke people into listening to the album to check for themselves it was really as bad as the title promised. [15] [16] [12]
In 2018, he released his second solo album, Teoria do Ciclo da Água. [17] [18]
In May 2019, he released a collaboration mixtape with Santzu, titled O Homem Não Para Nunca Vol.1. [19]
In early August 2019, Froid and Cynthia Luz released a single titled "Nosso Jeito". [20]
Later in the same month, Froid released another single with Cynthia Luz, "Lambada". Its music video was directed by Mark Vales. [21] The song was part of Froid and Luz's future collaboration album. [21] [22]
In the summer of 2022, Froid played at the João Rock festival. [23]
His audiovisual project "Acústico: O Florista" resulted in a DVD of acoustic versions of Victor Xamã's hits. The DVD was released in 2023. [24] [25]

The group was popular with disadvantaged youth because of their relatable commentary about social issues and the frequent use of skate punk and hip hop slang in their songs. The band won two Latin Grammy Awards and was one of the most-popular Brazilian bands of the late 1990s to mid-2000s.

It was one of the band's many releases to be produced by the duo Rick Bonadio and Tadeu Patolla, and the latter's own band, Lagoa, made a guest appearance on the track "Escalas Tropicais" in one of their final credited works prior to their break-up. Other guest musicians include rappers P.MC and DJ Deco Murphy, famous for their partnership and their later work on hip hop group Jigaboo.

Prazo Longo is the second album by Brazilian rock band Charlie Brown Jr. Like its predecessor, it was released through Virgin Records on March 6, 1999, and produced by Rick Bonadio and Tadeu Patolla. Totaling 25 tracks, it is Charlie Brown Jr.'s longest studio album; in an interview, vocalist Chorão explained that Preço Curto... Prazo Longo was recorded out of necessity, so the band could have more repertoire for the set list of their shows. Six of the album's tracks had previously appeared as teasers in the promotional EP Aquele Luxo!, released some months prior.
Bocas Ordinárias is the fifth album by Brazilian alternative rock band Charlie Brown Jr., released in December 2002 through EMI. Vocalist Chorão described it as a "sequel of sorts" to Abalando a Sua Fábrica, in which it continues the heavy aggressiveness of its predecessor, and dedicated it to his friend, fellow singer Cássia Eller, who died the year prior. The album's title comes from a Portuguese popular expression; saying someone has a "boca ordinária" means that they are foulmouthed. Chorão got acquainted with the expression after reading a negative critic from a Portuguese newspaper after the band performed in Portugal in 2002 as part of their international tour, and decided it would be the name of their next album.
