The futsal tournament at the 2025 SEA Games was held in 12 to 18 December. It was the 6th edition of the women's SEA Games futsal tournament. [1] [2]

Contents

Thailand are the five-time defending champions, having won in five tournaments, but they have officially become former champions after losing to Indonesia in a penalty shootout in the semifinals, which marked the first time ever they failed to achieved gold medal in the tournament, as well as in their home soil.

Futsal at the 2025 SEA Games – Women's tournament (Thailand)

Draw

The draw was held on 19 October 2025, 13:10 ICT (UTC+7). [2] The six teams were drawn into two groups of three teams each. The hosts Thailand were automatically seeded into Pot 1 and placed into the first position of Group A, while the remaining teams were seeded into their respective pots, based on their previous performance.

The team has to name a final squad of 14 players (two of whom must be goalkeepers). [3]

Group stage

Tiebreakers

Teams were ranked according to points (3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss), and if tied on points, the following tiebreaking criteria were applied, in the order given, to determine the rankings:

  1. Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
  4. If more than two teams were tied, and after applying all head-to-head criteria above, a subset of teams were still tied, all head-to-head criteria above were reapplied exclusively to this subset of teams;
  5. Goal difference in all group matches;
  6. Goals scored in all group matches;
  7. Penalty shoot-out if only two teams were tied and they met in the last round of the group;
  8. Disciplinary points (yellow card = 1 point, red card as a result of two yellow cards = 3 points, direct red card = 3 points, yellow card followed by direct red card = 4 points);
  9. Drawing of lots.
