Prayagraj division, formerly known as Allahabad division, is an administrative unit of Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The North Central Railway is one of the 19 railway zones in India. The largest railway station in NCR is Kanpur Central. It is headquartered at Prayagraj and comprises three divisions: Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra of the erstwhile Northern Railway, Jhansi division of the erstwhile Central Railway, and new Agra division.
Prayagraj district, also known as Allahabad district, is the most populous district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Prayagraj city is the district headquarters of this district. The District is divided into blocks within tehsils. As of 2011, there are 20 blocks in eight tehsils. The Prayagraj division includes the districts of Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Kaushambi and Prayagraj, with some western parts that had previously part of Allahabad District becoming part of the new Kaushambi District. The administrative divisions are Phulpur, Koraon, Meja, Sadar, Soraon, Handia, Bara, Shringverpur and Karchana.
Kaushambi district is a district in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. Manjhanpur is the district headquarters. The district was carved from Prayagraj district on 4 April 1997. Manauri Bajar connects Prayagraj and Kaushambi districts by railway over a bridge on SH-95. Manjhanpur is south-west of Prayagraj on the north bank of the Yamuna river, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from the city. It is surrounded by Chitrakoot district on the south, Pratapgarh district on the north, Prayagraj district on the east and Fatehpur district on the west. Kaushambi is part of Prayagraj division. The nearest railway station, in Bharwari, connects with Delhi, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Gaya and Kanpur.
Prayagraj Airport, also known as Allahabad Airport, is the domestic airport serving the city of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. Located in the Bamrauli suburb of the city, it is one of the oldest airports in India. This airport is currently under joint operation of the Indian Air Force and the Airports Authority of India. It is the third busiest airport in Uttar Pradesh after Lucknow International Airport and Varanasi International Airport in terms of passenger traffic and aircraft movements.
George Town is an upper-class neighbourhood locality in Prayagraj, India. Built in 1901, it is a residential area in the central part of the city mainly occupied by the white collar workers. It also houses a large number of hospitals and clinics. Georgetown is famous for is affluent surroundings and apartments. It is bordered by Kamla Nehru Road in the west, Thornhill Road, MG Marg in the south and Tagoretown in the west. Park Road, Lowther Road and Hamilton Road runs through the neighborhood.
Civil Lines is a Civil Lines neighborhood of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the upper-class central business district of the city and is famous for its urban setting, gridiron plan roads high rise buildings, offices, cafes, restaurants, hotels, malls, shopping complexes, theatres etc. Built in 1857, under the supervision of Cuthbert Bensley Thornhill, it was the largest town-planning project carried out in India before the establishment of New Delhi.
Kareli is a residential neighborhood of Prayagraj. Developed by Awas Vikas in 1979, it was one of the biggest planned neighborhoods in India. The neighborhood is sub divided into neighborhoods like GTB Nagar, Gaus Nagar, Shams Nagar and Rehmat Nagar Colony. Kareli is the second largest colony of India in terms of Area and is one of the most expensive residential localities of Prayagraj. It is also known as Officer's colony by the localas as the large number of people who served as government servants like IAS, IPS, PCS, etc inhabited the place.
Naini is a satellite neighborhood and a twin city of Prayagraj in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, India. By the 1950s Naini was established as the chief industrial area of the city.
The Old Prayagraj City, at the south of Prayagraj Junction Railway Station, consists of neighborhoods like Chowk, Johnstongunj, Dariyabad, Khuldabad etc. and was in existence from the time of Akbar. Some magnificent structures erected in this era consist of the Khusro Bagh and the Allahabad Fort. In the north of Railway Station, the New Prayagraj City consists of neighborhoods like Lukergunj, Civil Lines, Georgetown, Tagoretown, Bharadwaj Puram, Ashok Nagar, Mumfordgunj etc., which are relatively new and were built during the British rule. These neighborhoods reflect British architecture like the All Saints Cathedral, Alfred Park and Allahabad High Court. Newer residential areas include neighborhoods like Kareli and suburbs like Naini Jhunsi and Manauri bajar.
Prayagraj, also known as Allahabad, Ilahabad or Prayag, is a metropolis in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Alopi Devi Mandir is a temple situated in Alopibagh in Prayagraj in state of Uttar Pradesh, India. It is near to the holy Sangam, or confluence, where the rivers Ganges, Yamuna and the legendary Sarasvati meet. Kumbh Mela is near to this place.
Chandrashekhar Azad Park is a public park in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. Built in 1870 to mark Prince Alfred's visit to the city, with an area of 133 acres, it is the biggest park in Prayagraj. It was renamed by the Uttar Pradesh Government after revolutionary Chandra Shekhar Azad, who sacrificed his life here during the Indian independence movement in 1931.
The New Yamuna Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge located in Prayagraj. The bridge was constructed by the end of 2004 with the aim of minimizing the traffic over the Old Naini Bridge. The bridge runs north–south across the Yamuna River connecting the city of Prayagraj to its neighborhood of Naini. The construction was consulted by COWI A/S, a Danish consulting company. Main construction was done by Hyundai and was successfully completed in 2004.
Prayagraj Junction, formerly known as Allahabad Junction, is a railway station on the Howrah–Delhi main line, Prayagraj–Mau–Gorakhpur main line and Howrah–Prayagraj–Mumbai line. It is the headquarters of the North Central Railway zone. It is located in Prayagraj in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It serves Prayagraj and the surrounding areas.
Bharadwaj Puram is a neighborhood of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is sandwiched between Tagore Town and Daraganj, close to the bank of the River Ganga. Nearby are George Town, Allahabad University, Katra, and Civil Lines, as well as tourist attractions such as Alfred Park, Sangam, Anand Bhavan, and numerous temples. This neighborhood also has many commercial centers, schools, hospitals, ashrams, and parks. Bharadwaj Puram's main market is located on Matiyara Road and is a popular shopping destination. Alopi Bagh is in the south of the neighbourhood.
Prayagraj Rambagh railway station is situated in the Rambagh area of Prayagraj in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It also a Terminal station of Prayagraj. Due to huge rush at Prayagraj Junction the railway will develop as a high facilitated terminal.
Prayag Junction railway station is an important railway station in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. It serves Prayag town in Prayagraj. It consists of three platforms. The NR is developing the neighbouring Prayagraj sangam station as a coaching terminal. It is designed by architect M K Singh in the year 2018. There will be five new platforms, two washing lines, and a new station building with basement.
Subedarganj railway station is an important railway station in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh. Its code is SFG. It serves Prayagraj city. Railways has sanctioned a budget of ₹26 crore as part of its plan to develop the Subedarganj station, situated close to the North Central Railway headquarters in Prayagraj, as a full-fledged terminal, Minister of State, Manoj Sinha said. A new FOB will be completed by November. Prayagraj's neighbouring Subedarganj is being developed as terminal station with a provision of a new platform, new FOB, and extension of the existing platform.
