Business courts may be further specialized,as in those that decide technology disputes and those that weigh appeals. Alternative dispute resolution and arbitration have connections to business courts.

Gill S. Freeman is a retired American judge who served for nearly 20 years in the Circuit Court of Miami-Dade County,Florida. She is the recipient of numerous awards as a judge,and has held a wide range of significant leadership positions,in addition to serving as a judge. She was the first judge assigned to Miami's newly established business court in 2007,and co-chairs a bar association task force on making recommendations about implementing business courts statewide in Florida.

She has been Administrative Judge of that court's Appellate Division,a judge of its International Commercial Arbitration Court since 2017,and a business court judge in its Complex Business Litigation Division since 2023. She has received numerous awards as a judge,has held significant leadership positions,and has provided judicial education programming to other judges. In 2024,Walsh was the highest rated judge in the Miami-Dade Bar's Judicial Poll.
Nancy Lee Allf is a retired American judge,who served for 13 years on Nevada's Eighth Judicial District Court,located in Las Vegas,Clark County. As a lawyer,she was involved in the creation of Nevada's business courts,which she later served on for ten years as a judge. She received numerous awards for her judicial service and for her leadership as a lawyer,and has held many leadership positions in the legal community.
James M. Alexander is a retired American judge who served on Michigan's Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Oakland County for 19 years. He served in the Family Court for his first nine years,and in the newly created Business Court for his last seven as one of its original judges,writing hundreds of business court legal opinions over that time. He has held significant leadership positions as a judge,and received numerous awards and honors for his public service.
Renee A. Roche is a retired American judge who served for over 25 years in Florida's Ninth Judicial Circuit Court,encompassing Orange and Osceola Counties. She was Florida's first specialized business court judge,setting an example for the development of other business courts outside of the Ninth Circuit. She served in four of the Ninth Circuit's judicial divisions,and was a leader as an administrative judge and associate administrative judge in the criminal and civil divisions.
Joseph R. Slights III is a lawyer and retired American judge who served on the Delaware Court of Chancery from 2016 to 2022,and the Superior Court of Delaware from 2000 to 2012,playing an instrumental role in creating that court's Complex Commercial Litigation Division.
Jerome B. Abrams is an American judge who served as a district court judge in Minnesota for 14 years. He has been involved with studying and implementing changes to the civil litigation process in Minnesota and nationally.
