Gandhi Ashram School is a Jesuit Educational Institution with a musical twist, located in rural Kalimpong, India in the Eastern Himalayan region. The private unaided, co-educational English medium school was started in 1993 by Fr. Edward McGuire SJ, a Canadian Jesuit priest. It admits students of the local community as well as from remote areas that come from low-income and difficult backgrounds.

The Ratio atque Institutio Studiorum Societatis Iesu, often abbreviated as Ratio Studiorum, was a document that standardized the globally influential system of Jesuit education in 1599. It was a collection of regulations for school officials and teachers. The Ratio Studiorum relied on the classical subjects and did not contain any provisions for elementary education. The document was revised in 1832, still built upon the classical subjects but giving more attention to the study of native languages of the students, history, geography, mathematics, and the natural sciences.

It was established in 1940 when the Jesuits took over the administration of the diocesan school, Camarines Sur Catholic Academy. The Jesuits renamed the school Ateneo de Naga after taking control. The Jesuits were naming all the schools that they were opening at that time Ateneo. Ateneo de Naga was the fourth school named Ateneo by the Jesuits.
