Gangavathi Pranesh (born 8 September 1960), also known as Gangavathi Beechi and Junior Beechi, is an Indian stand-up comedian who performs in the Kannada language, often sharing his life experiences through his humorous speeches.
He has appeared on the Kannada-language talk show Harate, (ಹರಟೆ) which airs on Udaya TV, and also in various Kannada-language television reality shows, including Guest Speaker.
Pranesh has won around thirty awards and been honoured by hundreds of organizations.
His speeches are mainly based on humour and contains social awareness. Pranesh has been praised by audiences and critics alike for his unique style and content, inspired by the Kannada-language humorist Beechi.
He has appeared in several Kannada-language television programs as a guest speaker. [1] Pranesh appeared on the talk show Weekend with Ramesh, season 3. He has been a judge on television reality shows, including Comedy Kiladigalu and Kannadada Kanmani.
Pranesh is very popular among Kannadigas and has traveled to over eleven countries, including the United States, Australia, Dubai, Singapore, and England to entertain abroad. He has also given around 3,500 programs in 400 places in the State of Karnataka.
Pranesh made his acting debut in the 2008 Kannada-language film Mussanjemaatu , starring Sudeep and Ramya.
Pranesh, along with other comedians including Basvaraj Mahamani, Narshimha Joshi, started giving stand-up comedy performances, which came to be known as Hasya Utsava, Hasya Sanje or Humour Festival in Karnataka. [2]
He has written over five books, including Nagisuvavana Novugalu, Vaghbanagalu, Pranesh Payana, Pranesh Punch and Nakkava Geddava. Pranesh writes for a column in the Kannada-language newspaper Vishwavani every Wednesday.
Tulu is a Dravidian language whose speakers are concentrated in Dakshina Kannada and in the southern part of Udupi of Karnataka in south-western India and also in the northern parts of the Kasaragod district of Kerala. Tiptur Ramaraju Narasimharaju was an Indian actor in Kannada cinema who specialised in roles that required ample comic timing. He was the comedy stalwart of the Kannada film industry. He acted in more than 250 Kannada films between 1954 and 1979. He was also referred to as Hasya Chakravarti.

Ramesh Aravind, known mononymously as Ramesh, is an Indian actor, director, screenwriter and television presenter. Ramesh has predominantly worked in Kannada and Tamil films along with a few Telugu and Hindi films. Starting his acting career with Sundara Swapnagalu in 1986, Ramesh has appeared in over 140 films besides directing about 10 films. He has so far received two Karnataka State Film Awards namely, for America America (1997) and Hoomale (1998) besides winning Best Story award for his writing; two Filmfare Awards South, two Udaya Film Awards and Suvarna Film Awards.
Mysore literature in Kannada is a body of literature composed in the Kannada language in the historical Kingdom of Mysore in Southern India and written in the Kannada script. The writings date from the Kingdom of Mysore, which existed from around 1600 CE until the establishment of modern India in 1947. Many of the works of this literature written on religious themes are labeled Veerashaiva or Vaishnava in acknowledgment of the two faiths that gave form to the literature and fostered it until the advent of the modern era. Despite a gradual decline in the popularity of Jainism, authors devoted to the faith produced some works of merit. Secular themes dealing with a wide range of subjects were also written on. Kannada literature flourished for a short while in the court of the neighbouring kingdom of the Nayakas of Keladi whose territory was annexed by Mysore in 1763.
The Kingdom of Mysore (1399–1950) was founded by Yaduraya in 1399 as a feudatory of the Vijayanagara Empire and became an independent kingdom in the early 17th century, after the decline of the Vijayanagara Empire. Many musicians and composers have presumably adorned the courts of the Mysore kings from Yaduraya's time, furthering the Dakshinadi school of music that had developed in earlier centuries. However, records are only available from the time of King Ranadheera Kanteerava Narasaraja Wodeyar (1638). Musical treatises surviving from this time, though, provide ample information on the music, musical instruments, the types of compositions, the raga (melodies) and the tala (rhythms) used. Though all the Mysore kings patronised music, the golden age of Carnatic music was considered to be during the reigns of Kings Krishnaraja Wodeyar III (1794–1868), Chamaraja Wodeyar IX (1862–1894), Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV (1884–1940) and Jaya Chamaraja Wodeyar (1919–1974). The reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV is regarded as particularly important in musical terms.
Mayilsamy was an Indian actor and comedian who primarily played supporting roles. Appearing in many Tamil films, he was also a regular guest judge for Asathapovathu Yaaru on Sun TV in Chennai. He was well known for his comedy tracks in movies collaborating with veteran comedians Vivek and Vadivelu. He had featured in excess of 200 films in a career spanning nearly four decades.
Kovai Sarala is an Indian actress and comedian, who prominently plays supporting roles in Tamil Telugu Malayalam and Kannada films. She has won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Comedian three times, for her performances in Sathi Leelavathi (1995), Poovellam Un Vasam (2001) and Uliyin Osai (2008). She has also won the two Nandi Awards for Best Female Comedian and the Vijay Award for Best Comedian for her performance in Kanchana (2011). She is now part of Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam Party.
Karnataka is a state in the southern part of India. It was created on 1 November 1956, with the passing of the States Reorganisation Act. Karnataka is bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west, Goa to the north-west, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the south-east, and Kerala to the south-west. The state covers an area of 74,122 sq mi (191,976 km2), or 5.83% of the total geographical area of India. It comprises 30 districts. Kannada is the official language of Karnataka and as per the 2011 census is the mother tongue of 66.5% of the population. Various ethnic groups with origins in other parts of India have unique customs and use languages at home other than Kannada, adding to the cultural diversity of the state. Significant linguistic minorities in the state in 2011 included speakers of Urdu (10.8%), Telugu (5.8%), Tamil (3.5%), Marathi (3.4%), Hindi (3.2%), Tulu (2.6%), Konkani (1.3%) and Malayalam (1.3%).
Weekend with Ramesh is an Indian talk show hosted by Ramesh Aravind on Zee Kannada. The first season of the show began airing on 2 August 2014, and ended on 26 October 2014, after airing 26 episodes. The second season of the show aired from 26 December 2015 to 16 April 2016. The third season aired from 26 March 2017 and 2 July 2017. Raghavendra Hunsur directed the first Season, Prakash G., seasons 2 and 3, while Anil Kumar J. directed seasons 4 and 5. Pradyumna Narahalli wrote the seasons 2 and 3.

Aarthi Ganeshkar, also known as Harathi is an Indian actress, comedian and television host who works in Tamil films and television dramas. She initially worked as a child artist in the late 1990s, she also appeared in stand-up comedy shows namely Super10 and Lollu Sabha, before joining the Tamil film industry, she has played roles in Giri (2004), Padikkadavan (2009) and Kutty (2010).
