Garreth Roberts (born 15 November 1960) is an English retired professional footballer who spent his whole career with hometown club Hull City, including captaining them to two promotions.
Roberts was educated at Wolfreton School.
Roberts made his debut against Bury in March 1979, coming on as a substitute for the injured Alan Warboys. [2] He was made Captain of the team in his early twenties. [2] He played primarily in midfield, although in the later stages of his career he was also deployed in defence as a full-back or sweeper. [2]
Roberts was forced to retire from professional football at the age of 31 due to injuries. [2] His testimonial match saw Hull-born Nick Barmby make his debut for Tottenham Hotspur and score two goals against his hometown club. [2]
Roberts was voted 17th in a list of the top 100 Hull City players compiled for the club's centenary. [3] On 31 December 2021, Roberts was inducted into the Hull City Hall of Fame. [4]

Wagstaff has been inducted into the Rugby Football League Hall of Fame, and the Huddersfield Giants Hall of Fame.
Clive Anthony Sullivan MBE was a Welsh rugby league footballer. A Great Britain and Wales international winger, he played for Hull FC and Hull Kingston Rovers in his career, winning Challenge Cup medals with both clubs, and also played for Oldham and Doncaster. Captaining Great Britain in 1972, he was the first black captain for Great Britain in any sport. He was part of the Great Britain team which won the 1972 Rugby League World Cup. His son, Anthony Sullivan, had a successful career with Hull Kingston Rovers, St. Helens, Wales in both rugby league and union, and Cardiff RFC.
Dean Windass is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. He played spells at Bradford City and contributed to his hometown team Hull City's promotion to the Premier League in 2008.

Carlton Lee Haselrig was an American heavyweight wrestler and National Football League (NFL) player. Haselrig wrestled for University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He is the only person to ever win six NCAA titles in wrestling, three times in Division II and three times in Division I. His three-peat of Division II and Division I NCAA National Championships were won in 1987, 1988, and 1989. All six championships were won for Pitt–Johnstown.

John William Lane was an English professional footballer who played as an inside right. He is best remembered for his five years in the Football League with Brentford, for whom he made 234 appearances and was club captain. He was posthumously inducted into the Brentford Hall of Fame in 2015.
Neville P. Roberts is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and Victorian Football League (VFL). He played with West Torrens, Richmond and Norwood. His interstate career consisted of games for both South Australia and Victoria. He was South Australian state captain in 1984 and 1985.
