Gary Hines (born March 21, 1984, in Atlanta) is an American handball player who plays professionally in Germany.

Career

He began to play handball with 14 years in Atlanta because he was too short for basketball. [1] Between 2009 and 2010 he played for DJK Waldbüttelbrunn in the Bayernliga. [2] 2010 he moved to HSC Bad Neustadt and has played in the 3. Liga since. [3]

National Team

He scored 12 goals in his first international game for Team USA. The next day there was an article "The Hangtime Hines Show" which resulted in his nickname "Hangtime Hines". [1]

Private life

His mother had drug and drink problems and never told his father that he has a son.

Between the age of 7 and 14 he grew up in foster care.

From the age of 14 he lived with one family. [1]

Ninja Warrior

Hines competed at the Ninja Warrior Germany 2016, 2017 and 2018. 2016 and 2017 he reached the final. 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 he reached the semifinal. In 2022 he competed in American Ninja Warrior. [1]

He was the captain of the national team during the period 1996–2006 and for THW Kiel 2001–2009. American Ninja Warrior is an American sports entertainment reality show based on the Japanese television reality show Sasuke, which also serves as a successor of American Ninja Challenge. It features a set of obstacle courses in various cities, which competitor attempt to conquer. Handball in the United States is a minor sport. West Point Team Handball is a handball club from West Point, New York, United States. They are the handball team of the United States Military Academy. They play with four teams at various competitions. There are two teams for each gender. The West Point Black team is the first team and the West Point Gold team is the second team. They have won the most College National Championships in their collegiate league with the men's team winning 38 College National Championships, with their 16th consecutive College National Championship in 2024 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ninja Warrior Germany is a Ninja Warrior spin-off that first aired in Germany on RTL in the Spring of 2016. Based on the Japanese broadcast television show, Sasuke, and internationally known as Ninja Warrior, contestants in the show are faced with completing various obstacles in the shortest time possible. In 2021, the sixth season of the show, René Kaselowsky and Moritz Hans both cleared Stage 4, the Mount Midoriyama with Kaselowsky having a faster time and being declared the "1st Ninja Warrior Germany" and winning the €300.000 prize money.

The eleventh season of American Ninja Warrior premiered on May 29, 2019, on NBC. City qualifying and finals competitions were held in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Seattle/Tacoma, marking the first time a course was held in the Pacific Northwest, Baltimore, and Cincinnati.

Darrick Heath is an American former handball player. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics. After his playing career, Heath became a coach, and coached the national team.
