Gary 'Gazzo' Osbourne (born 1960) is a British street magician. Osbourne moved to the US in the 1980s, where he befriended Walter Irving Scott, also known as The Phantom. He is Scott's only pupil and the only person with whom Scott entrusted his biography and life's work at card cheating and sleights. [1] [2]
Gazzo is now[ when? ] living in Key West, United States, and continues to give lectures and performances around the world and perform street magic. He has published several magic related books, manuscripts and DVDs. [3]
Gazzo suffered a life-changing stroke on March 21, 2023, (two days before his sixty-third birthday) in Key West, FL (while performing at Malory Square). He was admitted to Lower Keys Medical Center. The new stroke affected the right side of his body. He previously suffered a stroke in 1994 that affected his left side. He spent his 63rd birthday in the hospital, unable to walk, broken, in tears, and (slurring his words) barely able to speak.
Osbourne's condition has slowly grown better with much support from the rest of the magician community.
Gazzo appeared on the seventh episode of Penn & Teller: Fool Us , where he performed his rendition of cups and balls for Penn & Teller to win an opportunity to open their show in Las Vegas. Though the duo knew how the trick was done, they praised Gazzo for his rendition of the trick, stating that he did it "perfectly" and "better than us". [4]

Penn & Teller's Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends is a 1987 direct-to-video program hosted by magicians Penn & Teller. Produced by The Mofo Video Corp. and released by Lorimar Home Video, the tape features seven different swindles or tricks that the home viewer can use to fool their friends. The tape was a companion piece to their best-selling book of the same name, released two years later. All of the tricks involve using a portion of the videotape.

Walter Irving Scott was an American musician, cardsharp and amateur magician. His glowing reputation among magicians and card men revolves around his time as a card cheat and a single demonstration of sleight-of-hand to some of the era's best magicians in New York in 1930. He lived out his last years in Rhode Island as a music teacher. Scott spent his formative years perfecting several difficult sleights of card manipulation in order to work as a cardsharp in card games throughout America. He participated in several different types of swindles and hustles. Eventually turning to a music career he was asked to perform one more demonstration. This single event created a legend within the magic community that continues to this day.
