The Geelong Easter Tournament [1] also known as the Geelong Easter Championship was a combined men's and women's hard court tennis tournament founded in 1886 . [2] The tournament was organised by the Geelong Lawn Tennis Club and played at Geelong, Victoria, Australia annually until 1967 as part of the ILTF Circuit when it was discontinued. [3]

History

In 1887 the first Geelong Easter Tournament was held in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. [4] The tournament featured two events the main Geelong Easter Tournament and the Geelong Easter Handicap Tournament. [5] The club also staged a Geelong Christmas Tournament at the end of the season. [6] The Easter tournament ran annually until 1967 as part of the ILTF Circuit when it was discontinued. [3] The Easter handicap tournament ran until the 1920s. [7]

Braddell winning 4 tournaments from 6 finals.

The 1883 men's tennis season was the eighth annual tennis season, consisting of 71 tournaments. The Wimbledon Championships was won by William Renshaw for the third consecutive year, while Richard Sears continued his dominance at the U.S. National Championships also winning a third successive title. Other big winners this season were Ernest Renshaw, picking up the Irish Championships, Herbert Wilberforce winning the Northern Lawn Tennis Championships in Manchester, and Herbert Lawford collecting his second and final title at the Princes Club Championships. The title leader this season was Charles Walder Grinstead winning 5 tournaments from 6 finals.

The Minnesota Open previously known as the Minnesota State Championships is an open men's and women's tennis competition founded in 1902 as the Championship of the Minnesota State Tennis Association. The tournament was first played at the St. Paul Lawn Tennis Club, Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States and ran as part of the ILTF Circuit until 1971.

The Good Neighbor Championships also known as the Goodneighborhood Championships was a men's and women's international tennis tournament founded in 1949. The championships were played on outdoor clay courts at the Flamingo Park Tennis Club, Miami Beach, Florida, United States. The Beausoleil Championships or Championnats Beausoleil also known as the Monte Carlo (Third Meeting) or Monte Carlo (troisième réunion) or Monte Carlo Easter Tournament or Tournoi de Pâques de Monte-Carlo was a men's and women's international clay court tennis tournament founded in 1910. The tournament was played at the La Festa Country Club, Hyères, France as part of the French Riviera Circuit. It was played annually until 1970 when it was discontinued.

The Lansdowne Championships was a men's and women's international grass court tennis tournament founded in 1889. The tournament was played at the Lansdowne Lawn Tennis Club, Dublin, Ireland. It was played annually until 1969 when it was discontinued as part of the ILTF Circuit.

The Keswick Open Hard Courts was a men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1934 as the Lakeland Open. The tournament was organised by the Keswick Lawn Tennis Club, and played at Fitz Park, Keswick, Cumbria, England. It was played annually until 1967.

The Alverstoke Open was an annual combined tennis tournament founded in 1909 as the Gosport Tournament at Alverstoke, Hampshire, England. The tournament was mainly played on grass courts except for the 1921 to 1923 editions which were played on clay courts. The tournament was part of the ILTF Circuit and ended in 1981.

The Les Diablerets International Championship or Championnat International des Diablerets was men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in July 1885, as the Les Diablerets International Lawn Tennis Tournament. It was first played at the Le Grand Hôtel et les Diablerets then moved later to the Tennis Club Les Diablerets, Les Diablerets, Ormont-Dessus, Vaud, Switzerland. The tournament was staged annually as part of the ILTF Circuit until 1971.
