Anandan Geetha is the MLA elected from Neravy T.R.Pattinam constituency of the Karaikal district. [1] She belongs to the party of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the only DMK MLA in Karaikal region at present.

Election

Anandan Geetha contested as the DMK candidate in the election of 2011. V.M.C. Sivakumar, the former DMK candidate for long years, left the party and contested as an independent candidate. Geetha Anandan lost that election to him in a difference of about 300 votes. [2]

In the election of 2016, Geetha was selected as the DMK candidate. Once again she fought against V.M.C. Sivakumar who contested the election for AIADMK. Anandan Geetha won the election defeating Sivakumar with a margin of 6936 votes. [3] She also created history in the constituency as she emerged as the first MLA rather from Sivakumar's family. V.M.C. Sivakumar's family had dominated the constituency for about 40 years.

1957 Madras Legislative Assembly election

The second legislative assembly election to the Madras state was held on 31 March 1957. This was the first election held after the linguistic reorganization of Madras state in 1954. Indian National Congress and its leader K. Kamaraj won the election, and defeated its rival Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. In 1954, due to the resignation of C. Rajagopalachari, for his controversial Kula Kalvi Thittam, the leadership of Congress was contested, between K. Kamaraj, and C. Subramaniam. Eventually, K. Kamaraj, won the support of the party, was elected leader and chief minister of Madras State in 1954. In a surprise move, he appointed both M. Bhaktavatsalam and C. Subramaniam, in his cabinet, allowing great unity amongst Congress, that ruled the state of Madras, for the next decade. This election saw future DMK leaders, M. Karunanidhi and K. Anbazhagan winning their first MLA seat in the legislative assembly.

Anitha R. Radhakrishnan is an Indian Tamil politician, Minister of Tamilnadu and Member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elected from Tiruchendur constituency as AIADMK candidate in 2001,2006 and as DMK candidate in 2009(Bye-election),2011,2016 and 2021.He was also former Minister for Animal Husbandry and Minister for Housing & Urban Development in the 2001 AIADMK government.

By-elections to nine state assembly constituencies were held in Tamil Nadu, in four separate phases. Election for Thirumangalam was held on 9 January and for Bargur, Thondamuthur, Ilayankudi, Cumbum, and Srivaikuntam constituencies on 18 August. 2016 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election

The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats of the Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. AIADMK under J. Jayalalithaa won the elections and became the first ruling party to be re-elected in Tamil Nadu since 1984, though with a simple majority. DMK won half of the seats it contested but its allies performed poorly; notably, the Indian National Congress won 16% of the seats they contested and the alliance lost due to its poor performance. The votes were counted on 19 May 2016. In the previous election in 2011, AIADMK, under the leadership of Jayalalithaa, won a thumping majority and formed the government, while DMDK chief Vijayakanth served as the Leader of Opposition until January 2016. This was the last election that J. Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi contested, as they both died in 2016 and 2018 respectively.

2019 Indian general election in Tamil Nadu Elections for the 17th Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu state

The 2019 elections for Tamil Nadu's 39 seats in the 17th Lok Sabha were held on 18 April, in the second phase of the 2019 Indian general elections. The United Progressive Alliance, led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, won a landslide victory, taking 38 of the 39 seats.

V.M.C. Sivakumar was the former agriculture minister and speaker of the union territory of Puducherry. His family had dominated the constituency of Neravy T.R.Pattinam for decades by winning about 10 elections. V.M.C. Sivakumar alone won 5 elections with 4 continuous win from 1996–2011. He had been a DMK leader who moved to AIADMK in the year 2016. He lost his last election in 2016 to Geetha Anandan from DMK. He was murdered by armed gang due to personal enmity in 2017 January.

2021 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election Indian state election

The Sixteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect representatives from the 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the election, ending the decade-long reign of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). The DMK's leader M. K. Stalin became the eighth Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the 12th Chief Minister since the 1956 reorganization. He replaced Edappadi K. Palaniswami of the AIADMK.

2021 Puducherry Legislative Assembly election

The fifteenth legislative assembly election was held on 6 April 2021 to elect members from 30 constituencies of the Legislative Assembly in the union territory of Puducherry in India.
