General Sutter is a 1999 Swiss historical film directed by Benny Fasnacht and starring Wolfram Berger, Werner Bachofen, Hannes Schmidhauser and Rahman Dalrymple. It is based on the life of John August Sutter, a German-born Swiss figure who participated in the American gold rush in the years before the American Civil War.
Music The music was composed by Swiss composer Philippe Blumenthal and recorded in Prague with the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and later released on a hard to find CD. It was Blumenthal's first orchestral score for a feature film. [1]
