Synopsis
Set in Paris, the novel follows billionaire scientist Elias Moreau, who is on the verge of revealing a groundbreaking discovery about the origins of life. His findings challenge long-held religious beliefs and scientific theories. However, on the night of his announcement at the Louvre Museum, Moreau is assassinated, triggering a global crisis.
The investigation is taken up by Professor Adrien Vasseur, a symbologist, and Celeste Durand, a Louvre curator. Together, they uncover cryptic messages left by Moreau, leading them on a journey through historical sites, including the Paris Catacombs and Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Their search brings them into conflict with multiple groups, including government agencies, religious authorities, and secret organizations.
A central element of the plot is Orpheus, an advanced AI system designed by Moreau, which holds crucial information about the origins of humanity. As the characters navigate conflicting interests and escalating tensions, they must decide whether to reveal the truth, despite its potential consequences.
