The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I, consisting of eleven schools located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

The Fairfield Stags men's lacrosse team represents Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and competes in the Colonial Athletic Association of NCAA Division I. The Stags have won eight regular season conference titles since 1996 and competed in the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Tournament in 2002 and 2005. The Stags play their home games at the new lacrosse-only Rafferty Stadium.
The Fairfield Stags men's soccer team represents Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) of NCAA Division I. The Stags play their home games at Lessing Field on the campus of Fairfield University. The team was ranked nationally in 1998 (24th), 2000 (15th), 2001 (12th), 2005 (24th), 2006 (15th) 2007 (17th) and 2011 (25th) and competed in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Tournament in 1999, 2006, 2008, and 2011. The 2006 team advanced to the second round in the NCAA Tournament after defeating in-state rival University of Connecticut, 2-1. The team also won the MAAC Championship Tournament in 1999, 2006, 2008, 2011, and 2017. Individually, ten players have earned Regional All-American honors including Mark Longwell '82 who was the first Stag to go on to play for the United States men's national soccer team and major professional soccer for the NASL Tampa Bay Rowdies. The Stags are currently coached by 1998 New England Coach of the Year Carl Rees.
A. J. Wynder is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach of the Nassau Community College men's basketball team. A former professional basketball player, during his playing career Wynder was a member of the United States national basketball team that won a silver medal at the 1995 Pan American Games and was a member of the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association during the 1990–91 season. A native of Long Island, he grew up in Freeport, New York.
Carl Rees is the head coach of the Fairfield Stags men's soccer team where he was the 1998 NSCAA New England Coach of the Year and the 1998, 2011 and 2017 MAAC Coach of the Year. Rees is a USSF academy national team scout. As a player he was a schoolboy footballer with Everton FC from age 14-17 before training full-time with the club. He joined Liverpool FC age 17–18. He represented the England FA team in 1983. After a successful college career Rees spent two seasons in the American Soccer League and at least one in the USISL. Rees started his coaching career in 1990 after a career ending injury.
Tim O'Toole is an American college basketball coach, currently the associate head coach at Pittsburgh. He previously was the tenth head coach of the Fairfield Stags men's basketball team. He also worked in the media as an ESPN college basketball analyst and was the color analyst for St. John's University's radio broadcasts with John Minko.

Jim McElderry is an American soccer coach who currently coaches the men's soccer program at Rutgers University.
The 2011–12 Fairfield Stags men's basketball team represented Fairfield University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Stags, led by first year head coach Sydney Johnson, played their home games at Webster Bank Arena, with games during the CIT played at Alumni Hall, and are members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 22–15, 12–6 in MAAC play to finish in a tie for third place. They lost in the semifinals of the MAAC Basketball Tournament to Iona. They were invited to the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Yale, Manhattan, and Robert Morris en route to the semifinals where they fell to Mercer.
David Edward Wojcik is an American college basketball coach who was most recently head men's basketball coach at San Jose State. His brother, Doug, was also a head coach at the NCAA Division I men's level for basketball.

The Stags, led by first-year head coach Jay Young, played their home games at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Alumni Hall in Fairfield, Connecticut as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. They finished the season 12–20, 8–12 in MAAC play to finish in a tie for eighth place. They lost in the first round of the MAAC Tournament to Manhattan.
Mark Young is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Fairfield Stags.
