George Buza is an American and Canadian actor who is best known for voicing Beast (Dr. Hank McCoy) in X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97 .
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he moved to Toronto, Ontario, as a young man and became a Canadian citizen in 1998.
Buza played Turner Edison on Maniac Mansion for the entirety of its 1991–1993 run on YTV and The Family Channel. He also had a recurring role on the Red Green Show as Dwight Cardiff, the extremely lazy marina operator. He appeared as Chief Jake McKenna several times in the TV series Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show . In addition, he portrayed Doubar, the older brother of Sinbad, in The Adventures of Sinbad syndicated TV series, as well as a recurring role on the syndicated Mutant X . Buza was also in episode 11 of TVOntario's Read All About It! , and played Buck Norris on The Strain . He was one of the Kzamm tribe in Quest for Fire .
He also makes a small appearance as a trucker in 2000's X-Men movie, and a biker in George Romero's Diary of the Dead . He played Stuckmore in 2002's Men with Brooms . Buza also played Lenny "The Brain" Lepinski in the Quebec-Ontario TV show called "The Last Chapter". He also played Santa, the character that fought Krampus in the horror movie A Christmas Horror Story . [1] [2]
Buza is probably best known for voicing Beast in the X-Men Animated Series . He was the only voice actor out of the main leads that was familiar with the comic prior to being cast. [3] He also reprised the role in the video games X-Men: Children of the Atom and both X-Men: Mutant Academy games.
Buza has also provided character voices in many animated series. [4] He voiced Grandpa Granger in the English dub of Beyblade , Chief Chirpa on Star Wars: Ewoks , and additional roles in Star Wars: Droids , The Busy World of Richard Scarry , Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend , The Neverending Story , Babar , Hammerman , Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors , Grossology , Iggy Arbuckle , Dog City , Pecola , Monster Force , Franny's Feet , Starlink: Battle for Atlas and Tales from the Cryptkeeper .
He also provided his voice in the English dubs of the Medabots and Power Stone video games.
In 1992, he was nominated for a Gemini Award for Best Performance in a Comedy Program or Series (Individual or Ensemble) for Maniac Mansion . He was nominated again in 2001 for Best Ensemble Performance in a Comedy Program or Series for The Red Green Show . [5]
X-Men: The Animated Series, also known as X-Men, is an animated superhero television series aired in the United States for five seasons from October 31, 1992, to September 20, 1997, on Fox's Fox Kids programming block. It was Marvel Comics' second attempt at an animated X-Men television series after the pilot X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men was not picked up. Set in the same fictional universe as Spider-Man (1994–1998), Earth-92131, it was followed by a revival, X-Men '97, which began airing on March 20, 2024, on Disney+ to critical acclaim.
X-Men: Evolution is an American animated television series based on the superhero series X-Men published by Marvel Comics. Taking inspiration from the early issues of the original comics, the series portrays the X-Men as teenagers rather than adults, following their struggle to control their mutant powers as they face various threats. X-Men: Evolution ran for a total of four seasons, comprising 52 episodes in total, from November 4, 2000, to October 25, 2003, on Kids' WB, making it the third longest-running Marvel Comics animated series at the time, behind Fox Kids' X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man. Beast is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics and is a founding member of the X-Men. Originally called "The Beast", the character was introduced as a mutant possessing ape-like superhuman physical strength and agility, oversized hands and feet, a genius-level intellect, and otherwise normal appearance and speech. Eventually being referred to simply as "Beast", Hank McCoy underwent progressive physiological transformations, gaining animalistic physical characteristics. These include blue fur, both simian and feline facial features, pointed ears, fangs, and claws. Beast's physical strength and senses increased to even greater levels.
Ewoks, also known as Star Wars: Ewoks, is a Taiwan-Canadian animated series featuring the Ewok characters introduced in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) and further discovered in Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984) and its sequel Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985). The series was co-produced by Canada-based Nelvana Limited on behalf of Lucasfilm and broadcast on ABC, with its sister series Droids, and then by itself, as The All-New Ewoks.

Tales from the Cryptkeeper is an animated children's horror television series made by Canadian studio Nelvana. The series was broadcast on ABC in the United States, and on ITV in the United Kingdom. It is based on the 1950s EC Comics series Tales from the Crypt and the live-action television series of the same name, which aired concurrently on HBO. Intended for children, Tales from the Cryptkeeper was significantly milder than its live-action counterpart, and all blood, gore, profanity and sexual content were completely removed in order to be more appropriate for the target audience. Most episodes take place within the fictional city of Gravenhurst, California.
