The George Mason Patriots men's soccer team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, United States. [2] The team is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. George Mason's first men's soccer team was fielded in 1968. The team plays its home games at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia.
Irad Young played for the team and earned All-Conference Honors in 1990 and 1992, All-Virginia, and All-South Atlantic Region, and was inducted into the GMU Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012. [3] He broke the school's career assist record (20), and became the first GMU player to notch 20 goals and 20 assists. [3]

George Mason University is a public sea-grant research university in Fairfax County, Virginia near Washington, D.C. The university was originally founded as the Northern Virginia University Center of the University of Virginia in 1949 as an extension school and regional branch of the University of Virginia for mid-career working professionals and non-traditional students in Northern Virginia and the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area. The university has since expanded into a residential college for traditional students with an emphasis on combining modern practice-based professional education with a comprehensive traditional liberal arts curriculum while maintaining its historic commuter student-inclusive environment at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Named after Founding Father of the United States George Mason in 1959, it became an independent university in 1972. The school has since grown into the largest public university in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The Jacksonville Dolphins are the intercollegiate athletics teams that represent Jacksonville University, located in Jacksonville, Florida. The 2017–18 George Mason Patriots Men's basketball team represented George Mason University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The season was the 52nd for the program, the third under head coach Dave Paulsen, and the fifth as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference The Patriots played their home games at EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia. They finished the season 16–17, 9–9 in A-10 play to finish in a four-way tie for fifth place. As the No. 5 seed in the A-10 tournament, they defeated Massachusetts in the second round before losing to Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals.
The Revolutionary Rivalry is a rivalry between the George Mason Patriots and George Washington Revolutionaries, both of which play in the Atlantic 10 Conference and are located in the Washington metropolitan area. Both schools are named after founding fathers, George Mason and George Washington, who were both natives to Virginia and had their plantations, Gunston Hall and Mount Vernon, respectively, on the southside of modern Fairfax County.
