Before his NFL career, he played football and basketball at Syracuse University. Prior to Auburn, he was the quarterbacks coach for the Seattle Seahawks. A walk-on to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles program, Davis redshirted the 2007 season and became the starter a year later. He ended the year with a combined total of 15 school records for both game and single-season marks and led the Golden Eagles to a bowl game victory in the 2008 New Orleans Bowl. He was selected to the Freshman All-Conference USA team and earned a Freshman All-American honorable mention by College Football News for 2008. He has also been a member of the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.
Zachary Rich Mettenberger is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons, primarily with the Tennessee Titans. He played college football at LSU and was selected by the Titans in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. After two seasons in Tennessee, Mettenberger spent his final NFL year as a backup for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mettenberger last played professionally with the Memphis Express of the Alliance of American Football (AAF) in 2019. Black players as a whole are disproportionately over represented in the NFL, being only ~13% of the U.S. population yet 67% of NFL players are black, with 17% of quarterbacks being black.
