Beginning in 1985, the Georgia Southern Volleyball program has been guided by a total of eight coaches. [2] In years 2001, and 2003 the team was named Southern Conference Tournament Champions. [3] This accomplishment took the team to the NCAA Tournament where they competed to earn a championship title. As of 2009 the overall record of the program was 353 wins, followed by 430 losses. [4] Coming into the 2010 season, the team lost a total of 5 players: two freshmen, one junior, and one graduated senior. [5] In return the team gained a total of four newcomers: three freshmen, and one junior.
Hanner Fieldhouse was completed in 1969, and became a home to Georgia Southern's athletic programs. This facility is where the Volleyball team competes. The complex is named after W.S. Hanner, who was a past athletic chairman in the years 1935, through 1959. Also taking part in coaching tennis and football, Hanner served as a professor in the branch of Exercise Science. [6] Hanner Fieldhouse not only houses athletic teams, but also is a home to "Health, Physical Education and Professional Studies." [6] The Hanner Fieldhouse contains a large gym (capacity of 4,358), a small gym, athletic training room, team locker rooms, coach's offices, and a weight room. [7]
The Lady Eagles started off with an early pre-season record of 8-6, playing teams such as Duke University, University of Miami, and Auburn University. [8] At the start of conference play the Eagles then went on a 4 match winning streak, slowly to be ended to the College of Charleston. In response the team then came back and won 10 straight games, 5 of them being home games, and 9 being conference games. Within this winning streak the team had a chance to travel to Jacksonville to play North Florida for the ninth straight win. [9] The team also had a home victory over Furman University, coming back in the game to defeat the Paladins in a five-game thriller. [10] Despite the winning streak the College of Charleston once again took the victory away from the Eagles in Hanner Fieldhouse on November 6, and ended the home winning streak of 12 straight matches. This put the team ending the regular conference season at a record of 15-2, earning the second seed in the South Division. This brought them to the Southern Conference Tournament held at Appalachian State, in Boone, North Carolina. [11] The Eagles started the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament with playing Appalachian State. [12] Soon to take a victory and continue to the semi-final round the team then was set out to play Elon University. [13] The Eagles defeated Elon and were headed to the final round of the Southern Conference Tournament to play the College of Charleston Cougars, who has given the Eagles their only regular season losses. [14] The team swept the Cougars in the finals and were then named Southern Conference Champions of the 2010 season. [14]
The Georgia Southern Eagles are the athletic teams of Georgia Southern University (GS). The Eagles compete in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) and are members of the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference. Prior to joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2014, the Eagles were members of the Trans America Athletic Conference and the Southern Conference (SoCon). During their time at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS/I-AA) level, the Eagles won six national championships.
Hanner Fieldhouse is a 4,325-seat multi-purpose arena in Statesboro in the U.S. state of Georgia. It was built in 1969 and is home to the Georgia Southern University men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball teams. It hosted the 1985 and 1992 Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball tournaments.
The East Tennessee State Buccaneers are the 16 intercollegiate athletics teams that represent East Tennessee State University (ETSU), located in Johnson City, Tennessee. ETSU's teams include men and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, and track and field; women's-only softball and volleyball; and men's-only baseball and football. The George A. Christenberry Fieldhouse is a 3,026 seat facility on the campus of Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia, and is home to the athletics department as well as some classes. It is home to the Augusta University Jaguars men's and women's basketball teams as well as the women's volleyball team. The first game at Christenberry Fieldhouse was held on February 2, 1991 against the University of South Carolina, a 76–62 loss.
The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are the athletic teams that represent Coastal Carolina University. They participate in Division I of the NCAA as a member of the Sun Belt Conference in most sports, having joined that conference as a full but non-football member on July 1, 2016. At that time, the football team began a transition from the second-level Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) to the top-level Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The team played the 2016 season as an FCS independent, joined Sun Belt football for the 2017 season, and became full FBS members for 2018 and beyond. A Chanticleer is a proud and fierce rooster. Prior to joining the Sun Belt, the Chanticleers had been members of the Big South Conference since that league's formation in 1983. Coastal fields varsity teams in 20 sports, 9 for men and 11 for women. The university regularly competed for the Sasser Cup, the Big South's trophy for the university with the best sports program among the member institutions, winning the trophy nine times, tied with rival Liberty University.
The Mercer Bears are the athletic teams of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, United States. Mercer is the only private university in Georgia with an NCAA Division I athletic program and fields teams in eight men's and nine women's sports. The university competes in the Southern Conference for most sports. In 2013, the football team competed in the Pioneer Football League.
The VMI Keydets men's soccer team is an intercollegiate varsity sports team of the Virginia Military Institute. The team is a member of the Southern Conference of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The 2011–12 The Citadel Bulldogs basketball team represented The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina in the 2011-12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by second year head coach Chuck Driesell and played their home games at McAlister Field House. They are a member of the South Division of the Southern Conference. They finished the season 6–24, 3–15 in SoCon play to finish in last place in the South Division. They lost in the first round of the SoCon Basketball Tournament to Western Carolina.

The Eagles, led by third-year head coach Charlton Young, play their home games at Hanner Fieldhouse and are members of the South Division of the Southern Conference.
The 2013 Southern Conference Baseball Tournament was held from May 22 through May 26 at Fluor Field at the West End in Greenville, South Carolina. The annual event determines the conference champion of the Division I Southern Conference in college baseball. Third seeded Elon won their second tournament champion to earn the league's bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament. This was the last of 18 athletic championships held by the conference in the 2012–13 academic year.
Eagle Field is a 500+ seat on campus soccer/track and field stadium in Statesboro, Georgia, United States. It is home to the Georgia Southern Eagles men's and women's soccer teams as well as cross country and track and field events. It is located in Erk Russell Athletic Park which is shared with Allen E. Paulson Stadium (football) as well as other football buildings.

The Eagles, led by second year head coach Mark Byington, played their home games at Hanner Fieldhouse and were first year members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 22–9, 14–6 in Sun Belt play to finish in a tie for second place. They advanced to the championship game of the Sun Belt Tournament where they lost to Georgia State. Despite having 22 wins, they did not participate in a postseason tournament.

The 2019–20 Georgia Southern Eagles women's basketball team represented Georgia Southern University in the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Eagles, led by first year head coach Anita Howard, played their home games at Hanner Fieldhouse and were members of the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 10–20, 7–11 in Sun Belt play to finish in ninth place. The qualified for the Sun Belt tournament, seeded ninth, were defeated by No. 4 Louisiana by the score of 64–81. Shortly after being eliminated, the Sun Belt canceled the remainder of the tournament which was followed by the NCAA cancelling all remaining post-season play.

The basketball team, led by first-year head coach Anita Howard, will play all home games at the Hanner Fieldhouse along with the Georgia Southern Eagles men's basketball team. They are members of the Sun Belt Conference.
The 1991–92 Georgia Southern Eagles men's basketball team represented Georgia Southern University during the 1991–92 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by 10th-year head coach Frank Kerns, played their home games at Hanner Fieldhouse in Statesboro, Georgia as members of the Trans America Athletic Conference. The team won the regular season conference title and the TAAC Tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. As the No. 15 seed in the Southeast region, the Eagles lost in the opening round to Oklahoma State, 100–73, to finish with a 25–6 record.
