Georgian International Airlines was an airline based in Tbilisi, Georgia.

History

Georgian International Airlines was founded as EuroLine in June 2004 and launched operations later that year. In February 2010, the EuroLine board of directors held a meeting in which they decided to re-brand to Georgian International Airlines with a new logo, name and livery. The move was to help the airline expand its operations network. [1]

The rebranded Georgian International Airlines planned to start flight operations in August 2013. [2] According to its website, the airline planned to implement direct flights to Islamabad, Moscow, Cologne, Tehran and Baghdad [ citation needed ] using 4 Fokker 100 and 2 Boeing 737-400. [2] However, as of late October 2013, the airline had yet to take possession of any aircraft while also thinking about buying a used Boeing 767-300ER for long-haul flights. [3]

As of January 2014, the airline still hadn't started operations and announced plans to acquire an Airbus A320-200 formerly operated by Mexicana de Aviación. [4]

Following financial difficulties, Air Zimbabwe ceased operations in late February 2012. PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines, operating as Merpati Nusantara Airlines, was an airline in Indonesia based in Central Jakarta, Jakarta. It operated scheduled domestic services to more than 25 destinations in Indonesia, as well as scheduled international services to East Timor and Malaysia. The word merpati is Indonesian for "dove", and Nusantara is a Javanese word found in the Pararaton meaning "the outer islands", referring to the Indonesian archipelago. The airline was based at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta. It also maintained both a maintenance and simulator facility at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya. The Merpati Training Centre at Surabaya housed Fokker F-27, AVIC MA60 and CN-235 full motion simulators.

TAAG Angola Airlines E.P. is a state-owned airline and flag carrier of Angola. Based in Luanda, the airline operates domestic services within Angola, medium-haul services in Africa and long-haul services to Brazil, Cuba, and Portugal. The airline was originally set up by the government as DTA – Divisão dos Transportes Aéreos in 1938, rechristened TAAG Angola Airlines in 1973, and gained flag carrier status in 1975. It is now a member of both the International Air Transport Association and the African Airlines Association.

Aviateca S.A. branded Avianca Guatemala is a regional airline headquartered in Guatemala City. Aviateca was under government ownership and remained so until 1989 when it joined the Grupo TACA alliance of Central America and was privatized. <span class="mw-page-title-main">Tigerair Mandala</span> Defunct low-cost airline of Indonesia (1969—2014)

Tigerair Mandala was a low-cost carrier headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was founded in 1969, by members of the Indonesian military dictatorship, as a full service airline. In 2006, as part of the ongoing reforms following the dictatorship ending in 1998, the military was forced to sell Mandala Airlines, with the new owners converting it to a low-cost carrier. In January 2011, facing bankruptcy, Mandala Airlines filed for protection from its creditors, and ceased operations. In May 2011, Singapore based Tiger Airways Holdings made an offer to purchase Mandala, but the transaction did not close until September 2011. The airline did not return to service until April 2012, renamed Tigerair Mandala, following an injection of fresh capital by Indonesian conglomerate Saratoga Investment Corp.

PT Citilink Indonesia, operating as Citilink, is a low-cost airline headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. Established in July 2001 as a low-cost brand of Garuda Indonesia, it operates services to domestic and regional destinations. Since 30 July 2012, Citilink has officially operated as a separate subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, operating with its own callsign, airline codes, logo, and uniform. Its main base is Soekarno–Hatta International Airport and Juanda International Airport. The company slogan is Better Fly, Citilink.

Austrian Airlines AG, often shortened to Austrian or AUA, is the flag carrier of Austria and a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group. The airline is headquartered on the grounds of Vienna International Airport in Schwechat where it also maintains its hub. As of July 2016, the airline flew to six domestic and more than 120 international year-round and seasonal destinations in 55 countries and is a member of the Star Alliance.
