Geoscience e-Journals

Last updated

Geoscience e-Journals is an academic portal that includes 54 open access electronic journals, all dealing with geosciences. Most journals grouped under this aegis give a free and full access to their contents (except for one journal that has an embargo period). Some are electronic only, others are also available in paper-printed versions or in CD or DVD versions.

El Gallo Formation

The El Gallo Formation is a geological formation in Mexico whose strata date back to the Late Cretaceous, Campanian epoch, specifically dated to 75.21 ± 0.07 Ma and 74.55 ± 0.09 Ma. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation.

Cerro del Pueblo Formation

The Cerro del Pueblo Formation is a geological formation in Coahuila, Mexico whose strata date back to the Late Cretaceous. Dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from the formation. The formation is believed to correlate with the Baculites reesidesi and Baculites jenseni ammonite zones, which dates it to 73.63-72.74 Ma.

The South American land mammal ages (SALMA) establish a geologic timescale for prehistoric South American fauna beginning 64.5 Ma during the Paleocene and continuing through to the Late Pleistocene. These periods are referred to as ages, stages, or intervals and were established using geographic place names where fossil materials where obtained.

Itaboraian

The Itaboraian age is a period within the Early Eocene geologic time epoch of the Paleogene, used more specifically with South American land mammal ages (SALMA). It follows the Riochican and precedes the Casamayoran age.

The Riochican age is a period of geologic time within the Paleocene and Eocene epochs of the Paleogene, used more specifically within the South American land mammal ages (SALMA). It follows the Peligran and precedes the Itaboraian age.

The Tinguirirican age is a period of geologic time within the Late Eocene and Early Oligocene epochs of the Paleogene, used more specifically within the SALMA classification in South America. It follows the Divisaderan and precedes the Deseadan age.

The Colhuehuapian age is a period of geologic time within the Early Miocene epoch of the Neogene, used more specifically within the SALMA classification in South America. It follows the Deseadan and precedes the Santacrucian age.

The Colloncuran age is a period of geologic time within the Middle Miocene epoch of the Neogene, used more specifically within the SALMA classification in South America. It follows the Friasian and precedes the Laventan age.

Manuel Santillán Osorno was a Mexican geological engineer and politician.

Jagua Formation Geologic formation in Cuba

The Jagua Formation is a Late Jurassic geologic formation in the Sierra de los Órganos and Sierra del Rosario mountain ranges in Pinar del Río Province, western Cuba. Plesiosaur, pliosaur, pterosaur, metriorhynchid, turtle and dinosaur remains are among the fossils that have been recovered from its strata.

The Revista de la Asociación Geológica Argentina is an open access peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Asociación Geológica Argentina. The journal is released under a CC-BY-NC 2.5 license.

Geosciences Barcelona, formerly known as Institute of Earth Sciences Jaume Almera is an earth science public research institute of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). It was created in Barcelona (Spain) in 1965 and it is considered among the top research institutes in Earth Sciences in Spain.

Manuel Iturralde-Vinent

Manuel A. Iturralde-Vinent, is a Cuban geologist and paleontologist and former deputy director of the Cuban National Natural History Museum in Havana. He is a scientific personality in Cuba and the Caribbean and President of the Cuban Geological Society for 2007-2016.

The Revista Mexicana de Ciencias Geológicas is a triannual peer-reviewed open-access scientific journal published by the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Sociedad Geológica Mexicana, Instituto Nacional de Geoquímica, and Sociedad Mexicana de Paleontología. It covers the field of geology and related Earth sciences, primarily on issues that are relevant to Latin America and Mexico. It was established in 1976 and the editors-in-chief are Angel F. Nieto Samaniego and Peter Schaaf.

La Casita Formation

The La Casita Formation is a geologic formation in Mexico. It preserves fossils dating back to the Kimmeridgian to lowermost Berriasian. It is laterally equivalent to the La Caja Formation and the Pimienta Formation. The ichthyosaurs Jabalisaurus and Acuetzpalin are known from the formation, as well as the metriorhynchid Dakosaurus and indeterminate pliosaurs.

Boletín de Geología Academic journal

Boletín de Geología is a quarterly peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by the Industrial University of Santander. The journal covers the geosciences, including geology, geophysics, geochemistry, and paleontology. It was established in 1958.

Acuetzpalin is an extinct genus of platypterygiine ophthalmosaurid ichthyosaur found in the Kimmeridgian La Casita Formation in Mexico. It is known from a partial skeleton, of which the skull is surprisingly well preserved. It was the first ichthyosaur described in 2020 and the first new ichthyosaur genus described since 2017.
