Gerak Khas is a Malaysian police procedural television drama series broadcast on TV2 and TV3. The series follows the crime-fighting efforts of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), led by SAC Datuk Helmi, from murders to terrorism and many other crimes committed in Malaysia. Gerak Khas ran from April 5, 1999 until March 27, 2021, spanning 20 seasons and 1054 episodes, making it the longest-running primetime drama series on Malaysian television.

Arbaiyah Abdul Manan, known professionally as Abby Abadi is a Malaysian singer, host and actress. She is best known as one of the members of the Malaysian girl group Elite, which gained success in the late 1990s and early 2000s and known for her role as Inspector Aleeza in the longest-running Malaysian action drama series Gerak Khas, where she is one of the six original cast members. She won the Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian for Most Popular TV Actress five times, between 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003.

The Pasukan Khas TUDM – it is better known as PASKAU – is the special operations force of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. Its main functions are to carry out high-value target protection, ground forward air controller, combat search and rescue and rescuing downed aircrew assignments. PASKAU is also tasked as the principal anti-hijack response force for military and civil aircraft in Malaysia. This task was taken over from Grup Gerak Khas. All PASKAU members are airborne and commando-trained and can be deployed behind enemy lines via air, land and sea to assist in target designation for the Malaysian Armed Forces and RMAF missions.

The Special Actions Unit, commonly known as and abbreviated to UTK is a tactical unit of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP). The unit is headquartered at the RMP buildings in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur. Together with the 69 Commando, they form the Pasukan Gerakan Khas.

The Special Forces and Elite Forces include both a specially and higher trained unit and a small percentage of personnel from a specific Malaysian military branch, law enforcement or government agency. In Malaysia, the term 'Special Forces' is widely used by uniformed services for special forces, special operations forces and 'special' trained units while 'Elite Forces' for units that more trained and capable combat. Regular personnel must undertake specialized and higher training to be able to join the units of the 'Special and Elite Forces'. These "Special Elite Forces" are denoted by different beret colours, shoulder tabs, unit patches, skill badges and uniforms.

Gerak Khas The Movie is a 2001 Malaysian Malay-language police procedural action thriller film written, directed and produced by Yusof Haslam, based on the Malaysian television series, Gerak Khas. The film was released on 1 March 2001 and starring Yusof himself, AC Mizal, Abby Abadi, Erra Fazira, Rosyam Nor, Norman Hakim and Nasha Aziz. The movie was a commercial success and spawned two more sequels—Gerak Khas the Movie II (2002) and GK3 the Movie (2005).

The first reincarnation of the series was premiered on October 5, 1998 to March 29, 1999, and discontinued when Gerak Khas was first aired. The 21st Special Service Group is a command for Malaysian Army special forces, the Gerak Khas. The 21 SSG and 10th Parachute Brigade are elite fighting formations of the Malaysian Army. Both units are independent units under the Malaysian Army and report directly to the Chief of Army. The headquarters of the 21 SSG are at Iskandar Camp in Mersing, Johor.
