Coach Geri Lynch Tomich, once member of the Disney on Ice show, was invited by the Essex Skating Club in 2001 to start and lead its synchronized skating organization. [2] [3]
Geri Lynch Tomich is the founder and the head coach of the Synchroettes synchronized skating teams, a not for profit organization that spans 10 teams and includes about 200 figure skaters. Synchroettes is one of the biggest such organizations in the United States and no longer represents the Essex Skating Club of New Jersey. [4] [5] [6] [7]
The first practice of the newly formed Synchroettes was scheduled on September 11, 2001, the day when terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York City, killing nearly 3,000 people. In order to honor the 9/11 victims Synchroettes has added the U.S. flag to all team attires. [2]
She led her Synchroettes juvenile team to win gold medals at the U.S. National competition in 2010, pewter medals in 2012 and 2015. Her Synchroettes junior team won the U.S. East Coast Champions title in 2015, 2014 and 2013. Synchroettes preliminary team won the U.S. East Coast championship in 2016 and 2010 [8] [9]
In 2016, she debuted the Synchroettes Unified Team that gives an opportunity for kids with disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders to skate on the same team with competitive skaters. According to a number of recent scientific studies, therapeutic ice skating in kids with autism spectrum disorders was found to improve balance, motor skills, overall functional capacity as well as emotional health. New Jersey Governo Chris Christie came in September 2012 to see Synchroettes junior team practice as the sports has rapidly expanded throughout the country. He met Coach Geri Lynch Tomich and the skaters after the practice. [14]
In recognition of Synchroettes’ success in the national competitions, the U.S. Figure Skating Association selected its junior team as the Junior Team USA for three seasons in a row, including in 2012–2013, 2013–2014 and 2014–2015. As the Junior Team USA, the Synchroettes went to earn silver medals in 2014 and bronze medals in 2013 at the highly regarded Leon Lurje Trophy international competition in Sweden. Due to the national and international achievements of the Synchroettes teams Dec. 18 is Synchroettes Day in Essex county, New Jersey, where their home rink is located. [42] [43]

Coach Geri Lynch Tomich leads the Synchroettes teams in their consistent and devoted support of Walk for Wishes annual march [46] Another annual charity event led by Coach is an annual performance by the Synchroettes Teams aimed at supporting U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots initiative designed to give a holiday gift to poor children. The performance, in which all of the teams participate, is normally held in mid-December at the Teams's home rink in West Orange, New Jersey. [41] [47] [48]

Ice Theatre is a branch of figure skating that merges technical jumps and spins with unique choreography, ice dancing, pairs moves, synchronized skating, and theater to tell a story or act out an emotion or idea. It is a relatively new branch of figure skating, but it is growing quickly. Ice Theatre can be enjoyed by the youngest to the oldest and brings out the more artistic side of figure skating.

The Skating Club of Boston is a not-for-profit figure skating club based in Norwood, Massachusetts. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest skating clubs in the United States, and a founding member of U.S. Figure Skating, the governing body for the sport in the United States. The Club's mission is to advance participation, education and excellence in skating for people of all ages, abilities and means. The Club has over 800 active members and offers a variety of programs for the public, reaching another 2,000 children and adults. The club built its own rink in Brighton, Massachusetts in 1938 and remained there until moving to the Norwood facility in 2020. In addition, in a public private partnership with the City of Boston's Parks & Recreation Department, the Club manages the programming and facilities for The Frog Pond located at Boston Common on a year-round basis.

Held since 2000, the World Synchronized Skating Championships is an annual event organized by the International Skating Union and attracts the most elite senior-level synchronized skating teams from around the world to compete for the World Championship.
The Haydenettes are a senior-level synchronized skating team representing The Skating Club of Boston in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States. They are five-time bronze medalists at the World Synchronized Skating Championships, earning the title in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2016. Formed in 1979 by Lynn Benson, the Haydenettes are the most successful synchronized skating team in U.S. history, with 30 U.S. National titles.
The Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain is an ice hockey and ice skating arena in West Orange, New Jersey as part of the South Mountain Recreation Complex. The arena is named for former Governor of New Jersey Richard Codey. The Codey Arena is owned and operated by the Essex County Department of Park, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs.
Christopher Knierim is an American former pair skater. With his wife, Alexa Scimeca Knierim, he is a 2018 Olympic bronze medalist in the figure skating team event, a two-time Four Continents medalist, a three-time Grand Prix medalist, and a three-time U.S. National Champion. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, the Knierims became the first American pair, and the second pair ever in history, to perform a quad twist at the Olympic Games.

She is a 2014 Olympic bronze medalist in the team event, a six-time Grand Prix medalist, and a two-time U.S. national champion. Gold placed 4th at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. At the junior level, Gold is the 2012 World Junior silver medalist, the 2011 JGP Estonia champion, and the 2012 U.S. junior national champion.
The South Mountain Recreation Complex is a 36-acre recreation facility in Essex County, located within the boundaries of the South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, New Jersey, United States. The complex is managed as part of the Essex County Park System. Activities at the complex include a zoo, ice skating/hockey rinks, a safari-theme miniature golf course, a forest adventure park, a restaurant, paddle boats, a nautical theme playground, and a 1.75 miles (2.82 km) walking loop around the Orange Reservoir.
The San Diego Figure Skating Club was established in 1939, received its charter from the United States Figure Skating Association and registered its Articles of Corporation on July 27, 1940 in the State of California. The Club’s purpose is to foster, promote, encourage, advance and improve the art of and interest in figure skating, and to encourage and to cultivate a spirit of harmony and friendship among ice skaters by such means as may be proposed from time to time by the membership. It is one of the oldest skating clubs in California.

Synchroettes - synchronized skating teams, formed by the head coach Geri Lynch Tomich in 2001, represent the Essex Skating Club of New Jersey, United States. The Synchroettes skaters are from around the world, including China, Russia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Uruguay and Colombia in the season of 2016-2017. However the teams are composed primarily of skaters from the New York City and New Jersey.
Christina Carreira is a Canadian-born ice dancer who competes for the United States. With her skating partner, Anthony Ponomarenko, she is a two-time Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2018 Rostelecom Cup bronze medalist, an eight-time medalist on the ISU Challenger Series, and a three-time U.S. national medalist.
The 2021 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships were held from January 11–21, 2021 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance at the senior and junior levels. The results were part of the U.S. selection criteria for the 2021 World Championships. It would also have been part of the selection criteria for the 2021 World Junior Championships and the 2021 Four Continents Championship, but the events were cancelled.
