Ghana Music Awards USA is an annual people's choice Awards organized by Don's Music Production who is a well-known registered event hub based in the United States. This respected events powerhouse has successfully organized and produced well patronized Gospel shows, Awards Programs, USA tours for some renowned Ghanaian artistes, and many others.

The Scheme is designed to promote Ghana Music and culture worldwide, create a solid international platform for promotions, sales, collaborations, business opportunities and several other benefits for Ghanaian Musicians, creative artistes and industry practitioners in the United States of America and beyond. It also seeks to encourage and celebrate today's most influential and iconic artistes in the Music industry who have entertained Ghanaians and other nationals living in the United States and Ghana in the course of the Year under review.

Ghana Music Awards - USA, honors artistes in multiple musical genres including Highlife, Hiplife /Hip-Hop, Gospel, Contemporary Inspirational, Afro Pop, Reggae, Dancehall and many others. Categories like Social Media Trending Artist, New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Video of the Year, Most Popular Song, Artiste of the Year and several others will also be recognized and given out to well-deserved artistes. A total of 35 individual Awards are presented to deserving artists during the main event which is always scheduled in the third Saturday of August

GMA-USA's events are proudly supported and endorsed by the Ghana Embassy and The Ghana Permanent Mission to the UN, New York, Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and the Ministry of Arts and Culture who are all well represented at the GMA-USA eventS.

By organizing this significant musical event, GMA-USA seek to honour the enthusiasm and ingenuity of all its nominees, applauding their creativity in Ghana, the US and beyond.

History

The awards was Instituted in December 2019 and was launched in New Jersey on January 18, 2020. The first nominees announcement was held in July, 2020 followed by presentation of certificate for nomination to artiste.

The maiden edition of Ghana Music Awards-USA was held at the plush Showboat Theater in Atlantic on October 10, 2020, which was followed by presentations of awards in Ghana in December 2020.

The second edition of GMA-USA was held in The Celebrity Theater at the Raddison Hotel Atlantic City - New Jersey. Prior to that, there was a nominees party held on April 17, 2021.

The Third Edition took place at the Lincoln Theatre on August 20, 2022 where Kofi Kinaata was Crowned artiste of the year. Herty Corgie and Jamin Beatz were also crowned female artiste and male artiste of the year respectively.

Raglife is a Ghanaian musical genre that is a combination of Hiplife, Ghanaian hip hop and highlife, with reggae. The music uses traditional reggae elements like drum beats and melodies along with rap. The genre is thought to have been created by Abrewa Nana, the first popular female rap artist in Ghana.

Akosua Agyapong, is a Ghanaian female highlife singer and television personality. She was honored by the organizers of 3Music Awards for her achievement in the entertainment industry in Ghana.

The 2016 Ghana Music Awards was the 17th edition of the Ghana Music Awards which was held on May 7, 2016, at the Accra International Conference Center in Accra, Ghana and was hosted by Chris Attoh, DJ Black and Naa Ashorkor. E.L was the biggest winner at the event, taking home a total of five awards including the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ with Sarkodie and Bisa Kdei won four awards each. These musicians, alongside Stonebwoy, Efya, R2Bees, Wizkid, Joe Mettle and Adomaa, performed at the event.

Maradona Yeboah Adjei, known by his stage names Guru and Gurunkz, is a Ghanaian rapper and fashion designer. Guru NKZ is a successful hiplife artist in Ghana. He is known for his contemporary hiplife rap style that combines English and Ghanaian indigenous languages. Guru's breakthrough was in 2011 when his hit song "Lapaz Toyota" appeared on the Ghanaian music charts. Guru's is considered a contemporary hiplife artist, as his songs venture new ground in the Ghanaian music scene mixing hip-hop, Afrobeats, Highlife, and Dancehall sounds.

Samuel Ofori Amponsah, also known by the name Mr. All 4 Real, is a Ghanaian singer-songwriter from Agogo, Ashanti Region, Ghana. Throughout his career, he has released fourteen solo albums, the most recent being "Million Dollar," which was released in 2020. He is regarded as one of Ghana's best 21st century highlife musicians.

Eugene kwadwo Boadu Baah, better known by his stage name Choirmaster is a Ghanaian hip life/afropop singer-songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur. He became widely known as the leader of the defunct hiplife group Praye before going solo. He has earned numerous awards and additional nominations.

Nana Yaw Nkrumah born in Accra, professionally known as Dr Ray Beat is a Ghanaian record producer and sound engineer, who produces music ranging from Afrobeat, Hip hop, Hiplife, Azonto, Dancehall and Afropop. He also produced for Guru, Kwaw Kese, Kofi Kinaata and more.

Global Music Awards Africa is an annual award, presented by Smart Focus Media. GMAA honors outstanding musical accomplishments in Africa, with the goal to discover the next African star. The first edition was supposed to hold on 6 March 2021, at Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana. Due to COVID-19 regulations in Ghana, it was held virtually on 20 March 2021, at AICC. The most recent ceremony was held on 16 April 2022 at Lagos Oriental Hotel in Nigeria.
