Portus Ganda is one of the yacht moorings provided by the city of Ghent in East Flanders, Belgium. The harbour master's office is located next to the new entrance of the Van Eyck swimming pool that faces the Veermanplein. It is 2300 metres long and 76m wide and was first used in 1954. Despite most major international Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA) regattas are designed to adhere to the 8-lane Albano format, this race track is suited for 2 medium-sized international FISA Regattas, but also for smaller competitions. The two important annual regattas are Ghent May Regatta organised by Royal Sport Nautique de Gand and the Spring Regatta in April.

Eveline Peleman from Ghent, Belgium is an elite rower. She was the 2014 World Champion in the women's lightweight 1x in Amsterdam. After winning the Lightweight women's single scull (LW1x) in Amsterdam. She started rowing back in 2005 at Royal Sport Nautique de Gand. This club was the first foreign Grand Challenge Cup winner and participated several times in the Thames Challenge Cup contest. Eveline also got a bronze medal in the 2014 World Rowing U23 Championships.

The competition was for men only, five nations competed, and the regatta had four boat classes. At the FISA Congress held on the same day as these championships, four nations were represented.

The competition was for men only, four nations competed, and the regatta had four boat classes. At the FISA Congress held on the same day as these championships, it was decided that the double scull boat class would be introduced in the following year.
