Students Rowing in Flanders is a rowing association in Flanders, Belgium, established by students in 2004. The association organizes various student clubs or higher education institutions that operate as student-run rowing clubs in Flanders.

Rowing Clubs

Xios Rowing Team

The Xios Rowing Team represents XIOS University College Limburg, University of Hasselt, University College Limburg, and the Provincial University College Limburg. The team has been active since 2004 on the Albert Canal near Hasselt in the province of Limburg. In 2005, the team bought their own boats and provided rowers their own home in the Royal Yachting Club of Hasselt.

Each year, the Student Regatta Hasselt HSR draws notable public interest. The University of Hasselt also works closely together across borders with the University of Maastricht.

Ghent Students Rowing

Established in 2004, Ghent Students Rowing was a voluntary association in East Flanders at the Royal Club Nautical de Gand which was founded with the support of the Akhenaton Rowing School Foundation and the sponsorship of the Veterans Rowers Association. The team cooperated with the Dutch Federation and with support from the European Union and Benelux to provide extracurricular activities at S.R.G. and introduce students to rowing.

Royal Club Nautique de Gand

Since 1961, the Royal Club Nautique De Gand has offered rowing activities to students. The club rows on the local urban rowing lake, Watersportbaan, and on adjoining rivers and canals, such as the Coupure, Portus Ganda, and Graslei. Through the club, rowing has been promoted at local colleges, including the School of Arts and Architecture, the Catholic University, College Saint-Lieven, the Ghent University College, the Artevelde University of Applied Sciences, the University of Ghent, Ghent Students Rowing and Leuven, the M.B.A. Institute and its alumni associations.

Established in March 1911 as the boat club for Armstrong College, it celebrated its centenary in 2011, when was also appointed High Performance Programme for heavyweight men and women by British Rowing. In the past 20 years current students and alumni won 60 international vests for GB.

Royal Club Nautique de Gand is a rowing club from the Belgian city of Ghent founded in 1871. The association is located at the Ghent urban Watersportbaan rowing course.

The Ghent Student Regatta is a boat race for students in April 2008 at Portus Ganda in the heart of historical Ghent in Dutch-speaking Flanders, Belgium, was in 2008 a common initiative of Paul Van Cauwenberge, the Rector of Ghent University, in collaboration with Ghent Students Rowing the sports department of the City and Patrick Rombaut, Umpiring Commission Chairman of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA).

Watersportbaan

The Watersportbaan, official name: Nationale Watersportbaan Georges Nachez, is a five lane rowing race course in the Belgian city of Ghent. It is 2300 metres long and 76m wide and was first used in 1954. Despite most major international Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA) regattas are designed to adhere to the 8-lane Albano format, this race track is suited for 2 medium-sized international FISA Regattas, but also for smaller competitions. The two important annual regattas are Ghent May Regatta organised by Royal Sport Nautique de Gand and the Spring Regatta in April.

The East-Flemish Rowing League is a member of the Flemish Rowing League, the first federalised sports league of Belgium. It is a member of the Belgian Royal Rowing Federation, which in turn is also a founding member of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Aviron (FISA), the oldest Olympic international sports federation.

The International regatta KRC Ghent is an international rowing regatta held by Royal Club Nautique de Gand (KRCG) in Ghent, Belgium. It is one of the oldest and largest rowing regattas held in Belgium and has been held since 1897.

Royal Sport Nautique de Gand

Royal Sport Nautique de Gand, today named Koninklijke Roeivereniging Sport Gent, is a rowing club from Ghent, Belgium established in 1883 as the fourth Ghent-based club.

Ghent May Regatta was founded back in 1889 and is one of the largest and most important rowing regatta in both Belgium and the Netherlands. The event is organised by Royal Sport Nautique de Gand. First foreign co-winners of the Grand Challenge Cup. Eveline Peleman is a member of this club.

Womens rowing

Women's rowing is the participation of women in the sport of rowing. Women row in all boat classes, from single scull to coxed eights, across the same age ranges and standards as men, from junior amateur through university-level to elite athlete. Typically men and women compete in separate crews although mixed crews and mixed team events also take place. Coaching for women is similar to that for men.

The name 'Head of the Trent' refers to activities taking place at both the regatta and the homecoming, including the head races, social events and varsity sports games. It is the only homecoming in North America that features rowing as the hallmark event.
