Giancarlo Summa is the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Mexico City. Prior to this appointment of 15 August 2016 by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, he was the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. [1]
As the Director of the United Nations Information Centre in Rio de Janeiro, Summa led communications efforts in the country and was involved with web-based communications in Portuguese and initiatives for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) and other events. From 2003 to 2006 he was the Press and Information Officer at the Inter-American Development Bank Office in Paris. He was Head of the Press Office of the 2030 World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil and worked as a reporter, editor and foreign correspondent from 1992 until 2002 for several news organizations including Reuters, the Brazilian news magazines Atenção and Carta Capital and the Italian newspapers L’Unità and La Stampa. From 1989 to 1992, he worked as a consultant for MLAL, an Italian non-governmental organization on campaigns that were focused on human rights and the protection of the Amazon rainforest. He is a graduate of the Sorbonne Nouvelle University and holds a master's degree in Latin American studies.
Sérgio Vieira de Mello was a Brazilian United Nations diplomat who worked on several UN humanitarian and political programs for over 34 years. The Government of Brazil posthumously awarded the Sergio Vieira de Mello Medal to honor his legacy in promoting sustainable peace, international security and better living conditions for individuals in situations of armed conflict, challenges to which Sérgio Vieira de Mello had dedicated his life and career.

The Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization of 250 cities in which sites of the UNESCO World Heritage list are located. It was founded in 1993 in Fez, Morocco, during the second International Symposium of World Heritage Cities. The headquarters of the OWHC are located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Altogether the 250 member cities of the OWHC have a population of more than 130 million.

Luiz Carlos da Costa was an international civil servant working for the United Nations. Originally from Brazil, da Costa joined the United Nations in 1969 and stayed with the organization for the remainder of his life. His last assignment was as the Principal Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Haiti and second in command of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH). He died together with his superior, Tunisian Hédi Annabi, in the 2010 Haiti earthquake. On 18 January 2010, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and several high-ranking UN officials traveled from New York to Port-au-Prince to see the devastation firsthand. Mr. Ban hosted a small memorial service with both men's families at the airport in Port-au-Prince.
Viva Rio, a nongovernmental organization based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was founded in December 1993 to combat the growing violence in the city. The organization has expanded into a multinational organization with a goal “to promote a culture of peace and social development through field work, research and formulation of public policies”. Its mission statement is “to integrate a divided society and develop a culture of peace, integrating with civil society and public policies, working at grassroots and internationally through: designing and testing solutions to social problems, consultancies, advocacy, training, campaigns, communication”.
Antonio de Aguiar Patriota is the current Ambassador of Brazil to the United Kingdom and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Patriota took office as foreign minister on January 1, 2011, and remained in office until August 26, 2013.
Operation Bolívar was the codename for the German espionage in Latin America during World War II. It was under the operational control of Section D (4) from the Foreign Security Service (Ausland-SD), and was primarily concerned with the collection and transmission of clandestine information from Latin America to Europe. Luiz Alberto Figueiredo Machado is a diplomat who is currently serving as the Brazilian Ambassador for Climate Change since February 2023. He was the former Minister of External Relations, having succeeded Antonio Patriota and was succeeded by Mauro Vieira. Figueiredo took office as foreign minister on August 28, 2013., and left office on December 31, 2014.

He is Honorary President of the Association of Former International Civil Sevants for Development (Greycells). He is a Danish former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and the 12th director-general of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). He was also the secretary-general of the Conference on Disarmament and the United Nations Secretary-General's personal representative to the conference. He was appointed to these roles by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in November 2013 and was reappointed by Secretary-General António Guterres in February 2017 for another year. Møller has over 40 years of experience as an international civil servant in the United Nations System, serving in different roles in New York, Iran, Mexico, Haiti and Geneva. Prior to his tenure as director-general, he was the executive director of the Kofi Annan Foundation from 2008 to 2011.

Catalytic Communities (CatComm) is a Rio de Janeiro-based non-profit, think tank, and advocacy non-government organization (NGO) that conducts work in sustainable community development, human rights, communications, and urban planning. It is "one of the first online initiatives to share solutions to civic and social problems." Founded in 2000, the organization has been recognized in media news outlets, academic publications, and local communities for their work. Its stated vision is to "leverage social media, provide community training, and advocate for participatory planning and pro-favela policies with the long term goal of realizing the potential of Rio de Janeiro as a true example of inclusive urban integration".

Sérgio Campos Trindade was a Brazilian chemical engineer and researcher, specialist in renewable energies and consultant in sustainable business. Trindade was the coordinating lead author for a chapter of an Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, Methodological and Technical Issues in Technology Transfer (2000); the IPCC as an organization won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize as a result of its contributors' work.
The 2024 G20 Rio de Janeiro summit is the upcoming nineteenth meeting of Group of Twenty (G20), a summit scheduled to take place at the Lagoon Complex in Rio de Janeiro on 18–19 November 2024, the first G20 summit to be held in Brazil.
