Giancarlo Zolezzi Seoane (born August 27, 1981) is a Chilean former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. [1] He is a multiple-time Chilean swimming champion and record holder in the 200, 400, 800, and 1500 m freestyle.

Zolezzi made his official debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where he competed in the 400 m freestyle. Swimming in heat one, he raced to second place and fortieth overall by 0.17 of a second behind Singapore's Sng Ju Wei in 4:01.51. [2] [3]

At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Zolezzi extended his program, swimming in three individual events. He posted FINA B-standard entry times of 1:52.47 (200 m freestyle), 3:57.89 (400 m freestyle), and 15:55.89 (1500 m freestyle) from the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. [4] [5] [6] On the first day of the Games, Zolezzi placed twenty-fifth in the 400 m freestyle. He blasted a new Chilean record of 3:56.52 to top the second heat against seven other swimmers, including early favorites Moss Burmester of New Zealand and Petar Stoychev of Bulgaria. [7] [8]

By the following day, Zolezzi took a sixth spot and thirty-ninth overall in heat four of the 200 m freestyle. He posted a time of 1:53.18, just 0.71 of a second off his entry and record time. [9] [10] In the 1500 m freestyle, Zolezzi touched second in heat one behind Thailand's Charnvudth Saengsri by a 6.06-second margin in 16:00.52. Zolezzi failed to advance into the final, as he placed primerisimo overall in the preliminaries. [11] [12]

He won a silver medal in the 200 m butterfly at the 2003 European Junior Swimming Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Kiss is a member of the swimming team for Syracuse Orange, and a graduate of information management and technology at Syracuse University in New York.

Charnvudth Saengsri is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. He is a two-time silver medalist in the 1500 m freestyle at the Southeast Asian Games.

Saw Yi Khy is a Malaysian former swimmer, who specialised in long-distance freestyle events. He clinched a bronze medal in the 1500 m freestyle at the 2003 Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam with a time of 16:07.22. Saw is also a former varsity swimmer for the Bolles School Sharks in Jacksonville, Florida, alongside his teammate Siow Yi Ting.

Georgios Diamantidis is a Greek former swimmer, who specialized in long-distance freestyle events. Diamantidis qualified for the men's 1500 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA A-standard entry time of 15:09.25 from the Greece National Open in Thessaloniki. He challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including top medal favorite Larsen Jensen of the United States. He rounded out the field to last place by a 27-second margin behind Italy's Christian Minotti in 16:06.31. Diamantidis failed to advance into the final, as he placed thirty-first overall in the preliminaries.

Zurab Khomasuridze is a Georgian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He is a multiple-time Georgian swimming champion and record holder in the 200, 400, and 1500 m freestyle.

Aleksey Sergeyevich Kovrigin is a Russian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. He is a three-time Russian swimming in the 400 m individual medley, and a current president of the Krasnoyarsk Swimming Federation. He is also a graduate of physical education at Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University.

Damian Arthur Christopher Alleyne is a Barbadian former swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, a varsity swimmer for the Georgia Bulldogs, and a graduate of Bolles School and the University of Georgia, with a major in business administration.

Yahor Aliaksandravich Salabutau is a Belarusian former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. Salabutau qualified for the men's 200 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 1:51.23 from the Belarus Open Championships in Minsk. He challenged seven other swimmers on the fourth heat, including two-time Olympians Joshua Ilika Brenner of Mexico and Giancarlo Zolezzi of Chile. He raced to sixth place by three hundredths of a second (0.03) behind Algeria's Mahrez Mebarek in 1:53.03. Salabutau failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed thirty-seventh overall in the preliminaries.

Aytekin Mindan is a Turkish former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. He held a Turkish record of 1:50.40 in the 200 m freestyle, until it was matched by Kemal Arda Gurdal in 2012. He studied at Istanbul Bilgi University.

Pilin Tachakittiranan is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and butterfly events. She is a two-time Olympian and a multiple-time age-group record holder in all freestyle distances. Regarded as Thailand's top female swimmer, she has won a total of five gold medals at the Southeast Asian Games.

Chen Te-tung is a Taiwanese former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle events. Chen qualified for two swimming events, as a member of the Chinese Taipei team, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He posted FINA B-standard entry times of 1:53.29 and 4:02.24 from the National University Games in Taipei. On the first day of the Games, Chen placed fortieth in the 400 m freestyle. He pulled off a second-place effort in heat one by a 1.72-second margin behind Philippines' Miguel Mendoza with a time of 4:03.71. The following day, Chen delivered a forty-seventh-place finish in the 200 m freestyle. Swimming in heat three, he raced to a sixth seed by 0.24 of a second behind Cyprus' Alexandros Aresti in 1:54.14.

Sng Ju Wei is a Singaporean former swimmer, who specialized in sprint and middle-distance freestyle events. He is a two-time Olympian, and a triple medalist at the 2001 Southeast Asian Games. Sng also trained for the Aquatic Performance Swim Club in Singapore district, under head coach Jin Xia Li.

Sergey Tsoy is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. Tsoy competed for Uzbekistan in the men's 400 m freestyle at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He achieved a FINA B-cut of 4:02.11 from the Kazakhstan Open Championships in Almaty. He challenged six other swimmers in heat one, including Qatar's 14-year-old Anas Abu-Yousuf and Philippines' two-time Olympian Miguel Mendoza. Entering the race with the fastest-seeded time, Tsoy faded down the final stretch to pick up a sixth seed in 4:16.91, more than fifteen seconds off the leading time set by Mendoza (4:01.99). Tsoy failed to reach the top 8 final, as he placed forty-fifth overall on the first day of prelims.
