Gianni Falchi Stadium is a baseball stadium located in Bologna, Italy. [1] [2] [3] It is the home ballpark of Fortitudo Baseball Bologna in the Italian Baseball League. [1] [4]
The baseball stadium was opened in 1969, becoming the new home of Fortitudo Bologna. [5] The stadium was named after Gianni Falchi, an Italian baseball journalist. [5] [6]
The stadium on four occasions (1978, 1988, 1998, and 2009) hosted the games of the Baseball World Cup, and the European Baseball Championship and two editions of the Intercontinental Cup (1973 and 1993) were also played at the stadium. [7] [8]
From September 18–22, 2019, it hosted games of the WBSC Baseball Europe/Africa Olympic qualifier. [9] [10]

It is one of the two main senior baseball tournaments sanctioned by the WBSC, but the only one which grants to the winner the title of "World Champion".

The Nettuno Baseball Club, established in 1945, is situated and based in Nettuno, Italy. The club competes in the Italian Baseball League, with one team competing in the first division and a second team playing in the second division. Training and home matches are held at Stadio Steno Borghese. The club currently holds the Italian baseball record for most wins (17). 10,000 capacity Stadio Steno Borghese is their home stadium.
The Parma Baseball Club is a professional baseball franchise that plays in the Italian Baseball League. Founded in 1950, the team is based in the city of Parma in Italy and plays its home games at the Stadio Nino Cavalli. The club, managed by Guido Poma, finished the 2020 season with a 15-11 record, good for 3rd place in Italy, behind Bologna and San Marino. So far in 2021, Parma took home the European Champions Cup in July, their European record 14th title. Parma will play in a modified playoff later this month to determine if they will get the opportunity to defend their title and participate in the 2022 Champions Cup.

The 2011 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup was the sixth edition of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, governed by FIFA. Overall, this was the 16th edition of a world cup in beach soccer since the establishment of the Beach Soccer World Championships which ran from 1995–2004 but was not governed by FIFA. It took place at the Stadio del Mare, a temporary stadium at the Marina di Ravenna in Ravenna, Italy, the third tournament to take place outside Brazil, which started on September 1 and ended on September 11, 2011. However this was the first tournament to take place under the new two year basis; now the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup takes place once every two years. The tournament was confirmed in March 2010.

Baseball was featured at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Tokyo, for the first time since the 2008 Summer Olympics. Six national teams competed in the tournament: Israel, Japan (host), Mexico, South Korea, the United States, and the Dominican Republic.
