Gilles Renaud (born 25 September 1944) is a Canadian actor who has starred in cinema and television in Quebec.

In 1983, he received a Genie Award nomination for Best Actor for the film A Day in a Taxi (Une journée en taxi). [2] He is also a two-time Jutra Award nominee for Best Supporting Actor, receiving nods at the 9th Jutra Awards in 2007 for The Secret Life of Happy People (La Vie secrète des gens heureux) and at the 16th Jutra Awards in 2014 for The Dismantling (Le Démantèlement). [3]

In 2016, he appeared in the film Bad Seeds . While heavily involved in that production, he filmed a death scene for his character in his TV series Mémoires Vives, which began airing in 2013. [4] In 2017, he starred in François Girard's film Hochelaga, Land of Souls , as a Montreal archaeologist in search of Hochelaga. [5]

<i>Hochelaga, Land of Souls</i> 2017 film

Hochelaga, Land of Souls is a 2017 Canadian historical drama film directed and written by François Girard and starring Gilles Renaud, Samian and Tanaya Beatty. Dramatizing several centuries of Quebec history and the local history of Montreal in particular, the story depicts Quebec archaeology revealing the past of indigenous peoples, explorers and 1837 rebels.

Nicolas Bolduc is a Canadian cinematographer from Montreal, Quebec. He won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Cinematography two years in a row, in the 1st Canadian Screen Awards and 2nd Canadian Screen Awards, for War Witch (2012) and Enemy (2013). He also won the Jutra Award for War Witch, and was nominated the next year for Louis Cyr. Bolduc was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Prix Iris in 2017 for Two Lovers and a Bear.

The 20th Quebec Cinema Awards ceremony was held on 3 June 2018 in Montreal, to recognize talent and achievement in the Cinema of Quebec. It was hosted by actresses Édith Cochrane and Guylaine Tremblay, who also jointly hosted the 2017 Prix Iris. Formerly known as the Jutra Awards, the Prix Iris name was announced in October 2016. A new category, Best Sound for a Documentary Film, was created for the 2018 event, and the nominees for Best Film was increased from five to seven.
