He was a member of the La Pommeraie family, from Brittany and serves Laval Family, and possessed land of Verger Castle of Montigné and d'Entrammes (Mayenne).
Son of François de la Pommeraie, Gilles was king's maître d', charged with important missions by Francis I, and was involved in arrangements for the "Field of Cloth of Gold", was ambassador in Venice, and was president of the "Dukes Chamber" in Brittany. He was briefly French ambassador to England, where he professed his great admiration for the French-educated queen, Anne Boleyn.
Husband to Jeanne Le Jeune, he obtained from Lord Jarzey the Castle of Entrammes (Mayenne) [1] where he created two fairs and one market.

The Roman-Gaul Baths of Entrammes is a complex of Gallo-Roman thermal baths (thermae) in Entrammes, Mayenne, France. The baths were partially incorporated into a church with the hypocaust surviving below the new structure. The remains were discovered in 1987.

The Laval Castle is a castle located in Laval, in the French department of Mayenne. Its foundation in the 10th century allowed the birth of the city. Emblematic monument of Laval, it occupies a rocky promontory above the Mayenne River. It is composed of two distinct ensembles: the Old Castle, which corresponds to the medieval fortified castle, and the New Castle, a Renaissance gallery transformed into a courthouse in the 19th century. These two monuments are on the list of the first 1,034 French historical monuments classified in 1840.
