Sobek was an ancient Egyptian deity with a complex and elastic history and nature. He is associated with the Nile crocodile or the West African crocodile and is represented either in its form or as a human with a crocodile head. Sobek was also associated with pharaonic power, fertility, and military prowess, but served additionally as a protective deity with apotropaic qualities, invoked especially for protection against the dangers presented by the Nile. Sobek has been famed for having been revered by the first female Pharaoh by the Nebty name Sat-Sekhem-Nebet-Tawy Sobekneferu, present both in the female Pharaoh's nomen, Sobekneferu, and her praenomen Kasobekre.

The 1963 UMass Redmen football team represented the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the 1963 NCAA College Division football season as a member of the Yankee Conference. The team was coached by Vic Fusia and played its home games at Alumni Field in Amherst, Massachusetts. The Redmen defense was stifling all year long, as they surrendered only one touchdown through the entire season. Outscoring their opponents 265–12, UMass finished undefeated for the third in team history and the most recent time to date. The one imperfection on the team's record was a 0–0 tie on the road against in-state rival Harvard. UMass finished the season with a record of 8–0–1 overall and 5–0 in conference play.

Andrea Bresciani was an Italian-born comics artist, illustrator, and animator. Of Slovenian origin, he was born Dušan Brešan in Tolmino and emigrated to Australia in 1950. Amongst his works were the Italian comic book series Geky Dor and Tony Falco and the widely syndicated Australian series Frontiers of Science. In the latter part of his career he worked as a film and television animator for Hanna-Barbera and Marvel Productions. Bresciani died in Malvern, Australia at the age of 83.
