Plot

When she was 14 and days away from her 15th birthday, Abby Hernandez accepted a ride from a stranger while on her way home from school. This mistake resulted in her being kidnapped and held captive by Nathaniel Kibby. For 9 months, Nathaniel kept her locked in a storage container located on his property and repeatedly abused her. Abby carefully thought of a plan to gain the trust of her abductor to survive and make it back home.

Meanwhile, her mother, Zenya, went to the police to try to find Abby. When the police were unable to help her, Zenya took action in her search for Abby and struggled to keep up the hope of reuniting with her daughter.

In the end, after 9 months of struggle Abby finds her way back home and now is a mother and a hairdresser making a living with her wonderful appearance.

Reception

On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Girl in the Shed has a total "Popcornmeter" score of 33%, with 2.4/5 stars, based on fewer than 50 ratings and a total of nine submitted reviews. Criticism largely fell onto the acting and the storyline, and the fact that a woman in her twenties was portraying a teenage girl was confusing for some viewers; however, praise was given to Savage's performance as Nathaniel Kibby. [4] On IMDb.com, the film has 5.4/10 stars, based on 921 ratings, with 20 user reviews and four from critics. [5]
