The Glenwood Springs Post Independent is a daily newspaper distributed in Garfield County, Colorado. The publication covers the municipalities of Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Parachute.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent was created in November 2000, by the merger of the historic Glenwood Post and Glenwood Independent, [1] and is owned by Swift Communications of Carson City, Nevada. [2] The publication is a member of the Colorado Press Association. [3]

In 2017, Post Independent staffers found photo negatives featuring the notorious American serial killer Ted Bundy that were kept in an old safe at their Glenwood Springs office since the 1970s. [4] [5] The negatives show Bundy at the Garfield county jail, and scenes from the search for him after he escaped from both the Pitkin and Garfield county jails.

The Colorado Daily was a newspaper published in Boulder, Colorado, by Prairie Mountain Publishing Co. LLC, a unit of MediaNews Group. Its final issue was published on September 17, 2022. The Daily was operated out of the offices of Boulder's Daily Camera newspaper. Originally the student newspaper of the University of Colorado, the Daily became independent in 1970 and underwent several ownership changes since 2001, coming under the control of the Camera, its former competitor, when it was purchased by the E.W. The Town of Carbonate is a statutory town and an extinct silver mining camp located in Garfield County, Colorado, United States. Founded in 1879, Carbonate was designated the original seat of Garfield County from its creation on February 10, 1883, until voters moved the county seat to Glenwood Springs later that year. The Carbonate post office operated from April 13, 1883, until November 15, 1886. On November 4, 2014, the property owners of Carbonate voted to reactivate the town government despite the population being 0 since the 1890 United States Census, making it the smallest town in the state of Colorado.
