Gmachl is a hotel in Elixhausen, Salzburg (state). The hotel has more than 70 guest rooms, a spa area, an outdoor area for summer and winter activities, a butchery and a tennis park. [1]

History

Gmachl was founded in 1334 making it one of the oldest companies in Austria. The business is now run by Michaela Hirnböck-Gmachl and her husband Fritz Hirnböck (23rd generation). [2] [3]

Festungsbahn (Salzburg)

The Festungsbahn is a funicular railway providing access to Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg municipality in Austria. It links the fortress with Festungsgasse, below the northern side of the fortress's walls. The Festungsbahn opened in 1892, and should not be confused with the much older Reisszug line that provides goods access to the castle.

2009 European floods

The 2009 European floods were a series of natural disasters that took place in June 2009 in Central Europe. Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey were all affected. The heavy rains caused overflowing of the rivers Oder, Vistula, Elbe and Danube. At least 12 people were killed in the Czech Republic and one in Poland.

Salzburgarena

Salzburgarena is a multi-functional hall situated in Liefering, a district of Salzburg, Austria. It is a venue for concerts, sporting events and due to flexible seating arrangements, there is space for up to 6,700 people. The venue was opened with a concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, on 7 December 2003.
