They recorded three 7-inch EPs for different labels, followed by an album on Lookout! Records in 1996, the latter of which collected the EP tracks and two compilation appearances. Their songs "Ray of Sunshine" and "Together Forever in Love" were included on the soundtrack to the movie But I'm a Cheerleader .

History

Go Sailor were formed in the Bay Area in 1994 by guitarist/vocalist Rose Melberg, previously of Tiger Trap and also of the Softies, as well as former Crimpshrine member Paul Curran on bass, and Henry's Dress member (and future Aisler's Set founder) Amy Linton on drums. They were initially active for just two years in the mid-1990s. [1] During this time they released three four-song 7" EPs, A Fine Day for Sailing, Long Distance, and Don't Go. They broke up in 1996, around the same time Lookout! Records released a compilation album of the EP songs and two songs from compilation albums. [1] After their breakup their songs "Ray of Sunshine" and "Together Forever in Love" were included on the soundtrack to the movie But I'm a Cheerleader . [1]

They reformed for some live shows on the early 2010s, starting with Slumberland Records's 20th anniversary shows in 2010. In 2011 the label reissued their 1996 compilation album on a limited vinyl edition as part of their Slumberland Archive Series. [2] Further shows included a performance at the 2011 edition of NYC Popfest and the 2012 edition of the festival Indietracks in England. [3] [2] Slumberland again reissued the album in 2022. [1]

In 2024 they performed at Mosswood Meltdown, their first concert in over a decade. [4]
