Coastal Andhra, also known as Kosta Andhra, is a geographic region in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, comprising the coastal districts of the state between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal, from the northern border with Orissa to Rayalaseema in the south. It includes major cities such as Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada as well as the state capital Amaravati and is recognized for its fertile lands, rich cultural heritage, and economic importance. Coastal Andhra plays a significant role in the state's agricultural output, particularly in rice and tobacco production, supported by abundant water resources from the Godavari, Krishna, and Penna rivers.
Rajahmundry, officially Rajamahendravaram, is a city in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and district headquarters of East Godavari district. It is the seventh most populated city in the state. During British rule, the district of Rajahmundry was created in the Madras Presidency in 1823. It was reorganised in 1859 and bifurcated into the Godavari and Krishna districts. Rajahmundry was the headquarters of Godavari district, which was further bifurcated into East Godavari and West Godavari districts in 1925. It is administered under Rajahmundry revenue division of the East Godavari district. The city is known for its floriculture, history, culture, agriculture, economy, tourism, and its heritage. It is known as the "Cultural Capital of Andhra Pradesh".

Built in 1874 by the Nizam of Hyderabad during the British era, it was the main station of Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway until the Kacheguda railway station opened in 1916. The station was taken over by Indian Railways in 1951, when NGSR was nationalised. Its main portico and concourse are influenced by Nizamesque architecture. The station, which resembles a fort, is a tourist attraction in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The Old Godavari Bridge is a decommissioned bridge that spans the Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh, India. Commissioned in 1900, the bridge served trains plying between Howrah and Madras. It is the earliest of three bridges that span the Godavari River at Rajahmundry. The Godavari Arch Bridge was later constructed as a replacement for the Havelock Bridge. The bridge along with the Godavari bridge and Godavari Arch Bridge is one of the most recognised symbols of Kovvur and Rajahmundry of the state of Andhra Pradesh.

The 12805 / 12806 Janmabhoomi Express is an InterCity service of Indian Railways that travels from Lingampalli to Visakhapatnam. It was first introduced between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Jn. It was later extended up to Tenali Jn and then the Nagarjuna Express was cancelled and thus made the Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Janmabhoomi Express via Tenali Junction, and now it is extended from Secunderabad Junction to Lingampalli. It is an express service that travels in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The train travels at an average speed of 55 km/h and uses a WDP4D of Gooty from Lingampalli to Tenali Jn then switches to a WAP4 of Erode from Tenali Jn to Vishakapatnam Jn. It is classified as an Express in the Indian Railways classification list.
The 12773 / 12774 Secunderabad–Shalimar AC Superfast Express is a Superfast AC Express train of the Indian Railways connecting Secunderabad (SC) to Kolkata Shalimar (SHM). It is handled by the South Central Railway zone (SCR). The train was announced in the 2012 Annual Railway Budget of India and its rake was rolled out in September 2012. The train stops at 14 stations en route, connecting major cities like Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar and Kharagpur. The train runs weekly. The train was flagged off from Secunderabad on 28 May 2013 at 11:00 am by Kotla Jayasurya Prakasha Reddy, the then Minister of State of Railways and Anjan Kumar Yadav, an MP from Secunderabad.

The 20805 / 20806 Andhra Pradesh Express is a daily Superfast Express train that connects the national capital of India, New Delhi, to the largest city of Andhra Pradesh, Visakhapatnam. The express is administered under Indian Railways's South Coast Railway Zone with the service numbers 20805 and 20806. The train service was first commissioned by then Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on 12 August 2015 as Andhra Pradesh AC Express. Later in the year 2020 Non-AC Sleeper Coaches were attached to this train which renamed this train as Andhra Pradesh Express. This train is named after the state Andhra Pradesh, as previously when Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states were combined, this train used to run from Hyderabad Deccan to New Delhi. When the Telangana state was bifurcated from Andhra Pradesh state, that train was renamed as Telangana Express and a new rake of LHB coach of Andhra Pradesh Express was started from Visakhapatnam.
South Coast Railway Zone (SCoR) has been announced as the newest railway zone of the Indian Railways and is headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The formal notification for operationalization of this Zone is yet to be issued.
