Golam Sarwar Hiru is an Islami Oikya Jote politician and the former Member of Parliament of Barguna-2.
Hiru was elected to parliament from Barguna-2 as an Islami Oikya Jote candidate in 1996. [1] In the 7th Jatiya Sangshad session,he was the sole representative of Islami Oikya Front. He was threatened with expulsion for breaking party discipline. [2]
General elections were held in Bangladesh on 1 October 2001. The 300 seats of the Jatiya Sangsad were contested by 1,935 candidates representing 54 parties and 484 independents. The elections were the second to be held under the caretaker government concept,introduced in 1996.
