Golica TV is a Slovenian local television station. Golica is one of the leading folk music stations in the Slovenian broadcasting market. The station offers a large compilation of folk music videos, entertainment live shows, live broadcasts and shopping network. [1]

"Zdravljica" is a carmen figuratum poem by the 19th-century Romantic Slovene poet France Prešeren, inspired by the ideals of Liberté, égalité, fraternité. It was written in 1844 and published with some changes in 1848. Four years after it was written, Slovenes living within Habsburg Empire interpreted the poem in spirit of the 1848 March Revolution as political promotion of the idea of a united Slovenia. In it, the poet also declares his belief in a free-thinking Slovene and Slavic political awareness. In 1989, it was adopted as the regional anthem of Slovenia, becoming the national anthem upon independence in 1991.

Disco polo is a genre of popular dance music, created in Poland in the 1980s. It was initially known as sidewalk music or backyard music. This genre, a type of Polish urban folk music, had great popularity in the 1990s, peaking in 1995–1997, then gradually declining in popularity through the early 21st century. The genre then had a resurgence in the winter of 2007. The Polish PWN dictionary defines the genre as a Polish variant of disco music, with simple melodies and often ribald lyrics. The service Rate Your Music defines disco polo as a Polish variant of dance-pop.

Melody Time is a 1948 American live-action and animated musical anthology film produced by Walt Disney. It was released to theatres by RKO Radio Pictures on May 27, 1948. Made up of seven segments set to popular music and folk music, the film is, like Make Mine Music before it, the popular music version of Fantasia. Melody Time, while not meeting the artistic accomplishments of Fantasia, was mildly successful.

Contested by ten clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Slovenian Second League. Seasons typically run from July to May with each team playing 36 matches.

Gradac is a village in the Municipality of Metlika in the White Carniola area of southeastern Slovenia, close to the border with Croatia on the Lahinja River. It is now included in the Southeast Slovenia Statistical Region. The village is best known for well-preserved Gradac Castle.

Slovenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Vrag naj vzame" written by Josip Miani-Pipi and Igor Amon Mazul. The song was performed by Rebeka Dremelj. Slovenian broadcaster Radiotelevizija Slovenija organised the national final EMA 2008 in order to select the Slovenian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. 20 entries competed in the national final which consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. The top five entries were selected to advance from each semi-final based on a public televote. Ten entries qualified to compete in the final where the winner was selected over two rounds of public televoting. In the first round, the top two entries were selected. In the second round, "Vrag naj vzame" performed by Rebeka Dremelj was selected as the winner entirely by a public televote.
