Euphamiarunyi Ekunah, [1] [2] better known as GoodGirl LA, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. In 2022, she was nominated with Vector for The Headies awards for best collaboration and best rap single for "Early Momo". [3] [4] [5] [6] [7]

Early life and education

Ekunah was born in Ajegunle. [8] She attended the University of Calabar, but left to pursue her musical career. [8] She previously performed as "Laden", which was shortened to "LA", and eventually became "GoodGirl LA". [8]

Career

GoodGirl LA's first singles included "Faraway", "Bless Me", and "Pina". [8] In 2019, she released her debut EP LA Confidential. [8] In 2020, she released her hit single "D4DM (Die For The Matter)". [1] [9]

She went on to release other songs like "Bando" which was dropped in 2023 and it's still making waves.

Her recent single "Lethal" is another hit single that remains the newest song worked on by Goodgirl LA.

Released on Valentine's Day 2021, "Early Momo" featuring GoodGirl LA is the lead single on Vector's album T.E.S.L.I.M. [10] GoodGirl LA's song "Bando" was inspired by Nigerian youth participating in the #EndSARS protests. [11] [12]

The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The Headies 2012 was the 7th edition of The Headies. It was hosted by M.I and Omawumi. The ceremony took place on 20 October 2012, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. The aforementioned hosts thrilled fans with their song titled "The Headies". Chidinma opened the show by performing her song "Kedike". The Okoye brothers won a total of three awards. The Artiste of the Year award went to Wizkid. Tiwa Savage and Wande Coal won the Best Male and Female Vocal Performance categories, respectively. Vector won the Best Rap Single and Lyricist on the Roll plaques for "Angeli". Davido won the Next Rated category and was later awarded a Hyundai Sonata. The Headies 2018 was the 12th edition of The Headies. It was held on May 5, 2018, at the Eko Convention Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. Nigerian comedian Bovi and singer Seyi Shay hosted the ceremony. After shortlisting thousands of entries submitted during the eligibility period, the organizers of the ceremony announced the nominees in April 2018. They also announced the addition of three categories: Viewer's Choice, Best Performer, and Industry Brand Supporter. Simi led the nominations with 7, followed by Wizkid and Davido with 6 each. The ceremony featured performances from a number of artists, including Falz, Mr Real, Simi, and the Danfo Drivers. Pulse Nigeria praised the award's sound production and stage design.
