Namibia, officially the Republic of Namibia, is a country in Southern Africa. Its western border is the Atlantic Ocean. It shares land borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the east and south. Although it does not border Zimbabwe, less than 200 metres of the Botswanan right bank of the Zambezi River separates the two countries. Its capital and largest city is Windhoek.

In November 2014, Geingob was elected president of Namibia by an overwhelming margin. In November 2017, Geingob became the third president of the ruling SWAPO Party after winning by a large margin at the party's sixth Congress. He served as the party's president until his death. In August 2018, Geingob began a one-year term as chairperson of the Southern African Development Community.
Sydney Convinus Plaatjies is a Namibian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He played club football for Refugees FC, Blue Waters, Jomo Cosmos, Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Kabuscorp, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Đồng Tháp and Blue Boys and international football for the Namibia national football team, where he was part of the Namibia squad for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

The team is nicknamed Blue Birds, The Birds or Omeva by its die-hard supporters. The team trains at its current field, Blue Waters Sport Field in Kuisebmund, a suburb of Walvis Bay. The team has a local rivalry with Eleven Arrows F.C., which was formed by former players of Blue Waters in early 1960s.

Ben Bamfuchile, also known as Ben Pabili, was a Zambian football defender and coach. Bamfuchile played for the Nkana Red Devils in the 1980s and later coached the same team, as well as the Zambia national football team from 1998 to 2000, holding the distinction of qualifying Zambia to the 2000 African Cup of Nations with best record amongst all the teams of 5 wins and a draw in the 6 qualifying games. Bamfuchile also coached Namibia and therefore coached and led two different teams to the African Cup of Nations; the Zambia national football team in the 2000 African Cup of Nations, and the Namibia national football team in 2008. He managed Namibia from 2006 until his death.

A member of the Namibia national football team, Mbaha competed at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, playing against Ghana and Guinea, and was capped 36 times by Namibia. Arie Schans is a Dutch football manager. He initially started as a trainer within the Netherlands before he took over as Bhutan's coach and would star within the documentary film The Other Final about the two of the lowest ranked teams in the FIFA World Rankings having to face each other. After beating the opposition Montserrat from the documentary (4–0), he spent some time attempting to improve Bhutanese football quality before returning to assistant coaching and having spells at Oita Trinita and Namibia, the latter of whom he guided to the 2008 African Cup of Nations.
TheLegal Assistance Centre is a human rights organization in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. The organization was established in 1988 during the apartheid era to litigate on behalf of people who were oppressed by the government and continues to operate today.
