Government Zamindar College, Gujrat is a government college located in the Gujrat District of Punjab, Pakistan. [1] [2] The college also offers postgraduate courses.
It was founded as Cold Stream Zamindar School by Nawab Sir Fazal Ali, grandfather of Nawabzada Ghazanfar Ali Gul and Nawabzada Mazhar Ali. [2] [3] In 1938, it was upgraded into a college. [3]
The mosque's foundation was laid by then governor of West Pakistan, Sardar Abdur Rab Nishtar, in 1950. [2] The mosque, modeled after Lahore's historic Badshahi Masjid, features a main hall measuring 120 by 67 feet. [2]
In 2011, during renovation a dome collapsed which led the Government of Punjab to label the entire college and remaining five domes as hazardous. [2] As a result, the college administration ordered their demolition and closed the main hall, following engineering advice regarding potential structural failure. [2]

Gujrat Division is an administrative division of the Punjab province of Pakistan, with it being headquartered in the Gujrat city. It came into being on 17 August 2022 after districts Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, and Hafizabad of the Gujranwala Division were grouped together in a separate division, increasing the number of divisions in the province to ten. The Wazirabad District was later on 14 October 2022 added under Gujrat Division making it a total of four districts. The change was made official after a notification issued by the Board of Revenue under section 5 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act 1967. Before this bifurcation, Gujranwala division was the largest in the province, with a population of approximately 16 million. Ahmad Kamal Maan was notified as the first commissioner of the division and Mohammad Akhtar Abbas will be the Regional police officer (RPO).
The M-12 motorway, or the Sambrial-Kharian motorway, is a motorway in Pakistan, under construction since July 2022. M-12 will connect Sambrial to Kharian. The 69 km (43 mi) long motorway will have 5 interchanges, a service area, and a 1 km (0.62 mi) long bridge spanning River Chenab. The M-12 will be a four-lane motorway with a design speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and an expected completion time of 2 years.
