Govind Sharan Lohra is an Indian folk artist. He is a Nagpuri folk singer, songwriter and dancer. He had performed in many national events. He is recipient of several awards including Akruti Samman, Peter Naurangi Sahitya Samman and Jharkhand Bibhuti. [1] [2] He was awarded Jaishankar Prasad Smriti Award in 2021. [3]

Early life

He was born in Itta village in Lohardaga district. He is well versed in field of Nagpuri song writing, singing, playing musical instruments and dancing. [1] He belongs to Lohra community. [4]

Career

He performed in several national events such as Rastriya Janjatiya Sammelan (1992) in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Rastriya Ekta Sibir (1994) in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan, National folk music event (1996) in Patna, Chotanagpur Mohatsav (1999) in Bihar (Now Jharkhand), Bharatiya Kishan Sangh's national event (2000), Hastinapur, Uttar Pradesh and 4th Vanvasi Krida Mahotsav (2000) in Ranchi. [1]

At present, he helps researchers in regional language Department of Ranchi University about Nagpuri folk music. At old age he has paralysis but he want his knowledge to give next generation. He advise youth to not distort folk music in the name of modernization. [1]

Awards and recognition

He has been awarded several awards including Akruti Samman (2002), Peter Naurangi Sahitya Samman (2010) and Jharkhand Bibhuti (2012). He also received several certificate from Youth Hostel of India, New Delhi (1992), Bihar Government (1996), Sur Tarangi Sammajik evam Sanskritik Sanstha, Patna. [1] He was awarded Jaishankar Prasad Smriti Award in 2021. [5]

Sahani Upendra Pal Singh was an Indian writer. He was one of the prominent writers in the Nagpuri-language in the modern period. He translated "Ram Charit Manas" in Nagpuri. He wrote around 20 books in nagpuri. He was awarded "Jharkhand Ratna", "Praful Samman", "Seva Ratna" and "BCCL Koyal Bharti Rajbhasha award".

Praful Kumar Rai was an Indian writer. He was one of the prominent writers of the Nagpuri-language in the modern period. He had a prominent role in publication in the Nagpuri language and in the formation of Nagpuri Bhasha Parishad in 1960.

Raman Gupta is an Indian actor, dancer and singer. He works in Nagpuri albums, Nagpuri films and Khortha film. He also acted in many hindi films. He is known for the Nagpuri film Sun Sajna, Deva Rikshawala and Gangwa. He was awarded best regional actor award in Jharkhand International Film Festival Awards in 2018 and Best Evergreen Actor in Jhollywood Award Show in 2022.

Mahavir Nayak, is a nagpuri singer and songwriter. He is an exponent of Theth Nagpuri music, which is a genre of typical Nagpuri music, based on traditional Nagpuri folk music. He is the recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award (2022), Lok Kala Ratna Award (2014) and Praful Samman (2019) for his contribution in folk music.
